Douglas' plan is to draft OL in Rounds 1, 2 and 3 and use Greg Salas as WR1.

Douglas coming out of retirement and will be a Player/Manager. He's just waiting for the top FAs to set the market so he doesn't under pay himself :p

I don't think he's as good a pass protector as some say. Titan fans have said he needed a TE in line to help block. He's elite in the run game. I wonder what the cap hit year one will look like.

His salary year 1 is 20 million. He probably has an easy out or plans to hold out in year 3, which is the smallest hit. I'm betting first 2 years have huge hits so he can get out. And he said he wanted the short contract so he can get big money at age 28.

It's funny, the Jets have often gone after shiny toys in FA and it tends to backfire. Now, it seems like the FO isn't after the top FA's and there's concern.

exactly. Browns sign Conklin and we act as if sky is falling because they're such an awesome franchise.

I'd spend more time looking at what KC, Pats, even San Fran does. (Arizona made a nice move)

We might actually have a grown up in the FO not chasing desperation moves

$20 mil isn't his salary, that's what he's getting year one. That can be broken up into base salary and signing bonus which gets spread out over three years. It's probably somewhere in the 15-16 range.

5 years 50M is a lot for a player whose only started 20 games in 4 years.

At this point I'm thinking JD is going for a handful of second tier OL that know how to get the job done.

The only deal that really chaps my ass is not going after Conklin.

Probably so the dude sucks as we all knew heading into the draft. Mayfield #1 overall was a joke it was so funny.

We needed an entirely new OL. We signed none of the top available OL. Joe D better have a VERY good game plan we don't know about.

Just wow. That's really all there is to it. I don't even think a tackle will be there at 11 for us.

    Horrible day.

That's strike 2 on Joe Douglas so far for me. Unfortunately my optimism is so low, he doesnt get the benefit of the doubt with me.

Break the bank for a GM that's going to come in and rebuild the OL and he does just as well as the old GM did at putting together a new OL. Unspeakably bad job by Douglas today.

You're also quite a fool if you think Adam Gase plays 0 role in players choosing other teams.
