Hello to all. Just a quick question, especially for those over the age of 60. How many of you are curtailing your celebrations this year with this virus around?

My family has been gathering for this event at the local Irish pub for over 30 years now. We are usually there for the day shift, but it still gets crowded. With a few of us being over the age of 60, we are having doubts about attending this year. I mean I love my Smithwicks, and there aren’t any cases in my area, but should we just take a year off?

    Let me know your thoughts.

I would just to be safe especially for those over 60. At this point I would try to avoid being in crowds as much as possible.

I don’t think the virus could survive in the blood of an Irishman on st patty’s day.
    Just my thoughts.

You can not hide from it. I have an 8 year old daughter in Elementary School. Full of nothing but children. Should i remove my daughter from schooling and have her doing home school until this virus is eliminated, if ever @ all?

Depends on your personality. I wouldn't go out this year but that's just me. I wouldn't enjoy even if I went out.

This shit is serious. The NBA has suspended the entire season. If millionaires are fearful of this sickness, what about us regular people? We're all fkd I'm scared to even pump gas...

Pearl River, NY parade was just cancelled. I've attended that one for the last 9 or 10 years :(

    That's not true. I have diabetes. And I'm 34. Not 70.

And settle down? Why don't you tell that to the NBA who just cancelled the season, or the IVY league baseball league that just cancelled their season? Or March Maddness down here in Tampa? No NBA players are "70" but yet still cancelled the season? Settle down? Maybe you need to wake up.

Social distancing is meant to contain the spread and keep the health care system from overloading ....you have a better chance of dying in a car crash to the gas station then touching the pump...this isn't the movie Outbreak calm down.

This is why I'm moving into a rural area when I retire if something serious does ever happen people aren't emotionally prepared for it and are too easily manipulated ....panic and fear mongering will cause a lot more damage then the virus.

The NBA cancelled their season because they have at least two confirmed cases and that caused virtually the entire league to be quarantined so there's nobody left to play. You really should read beyond the headlines and understand what is going on before you scare yourself to death.

And what about NCAA March Madness who've canceled the entire tourney along with NHL as well as NFL scouts getting off the road? It wasn't "just the NBA". Seems like something serious. When was the last time in America that our sporting leagues such as NBA, NCAA and NHL all shut down?
