I was listening to the radio on my drive back to work and some female reporter on ESPN (Rebecca? - don't hold me to it) was talking about him in the past tense, and then she was crying. I said to myself so the guy retired so what. Wait a second . . . Ugh. All I heard was that it was a private helicopter accident and they didn't say much else before I had to get out of car. Not a Kobe Bryant fan or too much into the NBA to be honest but that's a shame.
Man oh man. He was my age. I loved NBA because of him. When my company asked me to move to USA I said do it so I can be close to him. He came to NJ and I was there watching him against the Nets. He became a Galatasaray fan back in 2011 and I loved him even more. I took the day off tomorrow as I have shit ton of vacation days. I will dedicate 1 day to Black Mamba. This wasn't supposed to happen. Fuck this. Truly fuck this. He was my hero. For the first time I am at TGG I will change my avatar in his honor for 41 days as it is the mourning period in my culture.
Shocking. His daughter also passed away. The reports say there was another player also on the plane any word on who it was?
When I was little, I rooted for the Nets and watched Kobe and the Lakers destroy them in the Finals. That guy was one of the smartest and most dedicated athletes in any sport. RIP Kobe
He was on the way to a youth game his daughter was to play in. The other passengers were another player from that team and her father.
Raptors-Spurs 24 second clock violation. You gotta see it. Brought me to my tears one more time https://www.totalprosports.com/2020...ntional-24-second-shot-clock-violation-video/
Another reminder that you just don't know when it's your time. So sad. I'm sitting here in disbelief.
The cheapest tickets for the Lakers-Clippers game on Tuesday are over $1000. I don't even think Kobes last game or NBA finals games get that high. Goes to show just how big this guy was. It hit me to, I think a lot of sports fans probably watched Kobe Bryant on the court more than any other player in all of sports. In the NFL they only play 16-20 games, Kobe played more games in the playoffs alone. He also was on the court for 40+ minutes, unlike baseball where there is a lot of down time for the players. Most of us probably watched him physically play more than anyone (other than a few other NBA players like Jordan, LeBron, Duncan etc). He was one of the few athletes that actually became larger than his sport.
