The NFL needs that ad revenue so desperately that it won't let you watch when embedded on this forum and instead makes you click through to YouTube and watch the ads. With that being said; awesome video. I can watch highlights of that game until I'm blue in the face.
I didn't know we had to click through. It works without that on mine. Some tweets are like that too for some reason. Ya, it's all about the ads
This is the game that sealed my fandom for the Jets. I'd been watching the NFL for about 2 years but hadn't really settled on a team. I liked the Jets plus a few other teams and knew I hated the Pats. I found myself really rooting for the Jets in this game and that was that. I thought I was on a winner seeing as though the Jets had made back to back AFCCG's. After following a perennial struggler in my first love, Australian Rules Football, my whole life (Melbourne's last premiership/championship was in 1964) I thought "at least I'm on a winner with the Jets." It's been all down hill ever since To top it off my wife roots for the Pats because she knew of/liked Brady. She's seen 3 SB's and her Aussie Rules team (Geelong) has won 3 premierships since 2007 as well....
Yes, your wife has seen three SB’s. But she must look in the mirror and see the eyes of a Patriots fan. That can’t be easy on the soul.
Awesome. But kinda pathetic at the same time. I mean, they’ve won the Super Bowl what, twice since then?
Your NYJs history needs some checking as the NYJs won SB 3 in 69 which now makes the not only the best but the only to cheer was 51 years ago to be exact was 01/12/69 which is the day they won SB3
And played in five more Super Bowls. They went on to become the team of the decade again. That was a great win BUT knowing what happened the following week takes away much of the joy of watching this. At the time after that it felt like it was our year. That win should've catapulted them to at minimum a Lamar Hunt trophy & a Super Bowl appearance.
They ran out of steam after beating two of the top 5 greatest quarterbacks in back to back weeks. That's kind of the story of how Rex's teams would go on to fair the next 3-4 years. Big wins and huge letdowns following them. 2013 is the exemplary year of that. Beat the 11-5 Saints and stroll into the bye. Come out of the bye and lose to the eventual 6-10 Bills. I don't blame that team for struggling the following week. It was frustrating but they came out flat and finished flat. The one trademark of Rex Ryan teams eventually lost us that game. When we couldn't stop Mendenhall on that final drive.
The Giants would've won the Super Bowl if they had pulled off that type of upset. It was inexcusable. How is it possible to come out "flat" for a AFC Championship game? I've heard that said ever since it happened but I can't wrap my head around it. I've heard of coming out flat for a trap game when playing a crappy team sandwiched in between two quality opponents but in a AFC Championship game? It's ridiculous to me. Indefensible.
Did you watch the Packers game this past week? Rodgers not jumping on the ball after he fucked up the snap, safeties not chasing down ball carriers once they break the second level. It happens. It is indefensible from a coaching perspective and it's a disgrace. But it does happen. We turned it on in the second half and still almost beat the Steelers.
Not a popular opinion but I'll say it ... If not for that asinine fake punt, we lose that game by 2 TDs. I have no,idea what Chung was thinking, but he won that game for us.
I've seen a dozen teams show up flat for the Super Bowl: Chargers had nothing against the 49ers, went down 14-0 in the first 5 minutes. Manning's Broncos still haven't arrived at the 2014 Super Bowl. Seattle could have won that game with their 3rd string. The Redskins never showed up against the Marcus Allen Raiders. Don Beebe was the only Buffalo Bill to show up against the Cowboys once up on a time. NEITHER team showed up for Super Bowl 5...despite the game being littered with HOFers. There are more, but those are some examples across Super Bowl history.
Sung to the tune of that old Mounds/Almond Joy candy bar commercial: "Sometimes you feel like a , sometimes you don't!"
