simple answer, they are good enough to not find themselves down 21-0. as for the recieving options, I believe that was Menace's point when he said "as a team, I believe the Niners are better"
Isnt Andy Reid the best coach after a bye week in NFL history? Granted he did lose his last Super Bowl, having two weeks off will definitely be beneficial based on his history.
I would be shocked if they go down 21-10, if they did, I’m convinced they can come back as long as the defense held KC for a couple of possessions. My original prediction is 34-31, Niners will have to open it up to win this game, it can’t be all runs, the Packers moved the ball pretty well on their defense, unfortunately the packers could not come up with a big stop. Geno happy feet, I like that, I’ll have to pay attention to that. I do think Jimmy lacks arm strength, some of his throws were not on a rope and not in front of his receivers as they should be.
Does anyone think the 49ers defense will pull a 2013 Seahawks or 2015 Broncos and shut down Mahomes offense? I dont see it happening at all, I actually think Mahomes will tear their defense up the same way Brees did earlier in the season. Im expecting at least 4 offensive TDs from the Chiefs......
No, Mahomes is way too good for that. That Seahawks Broncos Super Bowl was a disaster for Denver from the start, if I remember correctly the first snap for Denver went over Peyton's head
True but that was the most lethal offense in NFL history, and it got completely hammered. I just dont think the 49ers defense is as anywhere as good as that defense for that to happen.
I added a poll. Please vote. Also, I want to move this to main Jets forum. Any objections? @FJF @Jonathan_Vilma @BrowningNagle @SOXXX2 @dawinner127 @Red Menace @DefenseWinsChampionships @CBG @jilozzo @JetBlue
The NFC was a much deeper, better conference this year. Way more heavyweights than the AFC. The Niners have been consistent as hell all year long. Their D LIne is ridiculously talented and only getting better. The Chiefs D is swiss cheese as evidenced by the last two playoff games. Kittle and Mostert could and should do a lot of damage to them. Chiefs D is a little soft. I look at the weaknesses of each team. Chiefs D vs Niners O. I think the Niners O is better than the Chiefs D. I think Mahomes will be under a shitload of duress like he hasn't seen this year. Niners D is a different animal. He'll make some of his highlight reel plays but I think SF wears him down by the 4th and they win by close to double digits. Something like 35-24 or 38-28.
I think @dawinner127 post above proves that this isn't the early season Chiefs defense. And Chris Jones now has two weeks to get healthy. I do echo your concerns in the Chiefs run defense. The Colts game is a good example of where they got absolutely destroyed by a team that successfully shortened the game. But I think their defense is playing a lot better than that now.
100% agree. That defense that got dominated by Indy is so much different than now. They held Henry to 69 yards man after he tallied what, 400 in 2 games? That Chiefs D is very similar to the Giants D coached by Spags that won the Superbowl. Get hot at the right time baby.
yea but you have to factor in the Andy Reid choke factor. A dumb challenge or some time management gaffes. I like the Niners
Yeah that stat surprised me regarding their D down the stretch. However if you dig a little deeper you will see that the Niners played the Ravens, Saints, Packers and Seahawks since Week 11. Four of the best teams in the league. Whereas the Chiefs only played one playoff team over that time (the Pats). That's a big factor in that stat. If Jones and Clark can get consistent pressure on Garropolo then I think they have a shot. Otherwise I think SF is just a little more well balanced overall and should win. Mahomes obviously being the X factor but he hasn't seen a D like this all regular season or playoffs.
yeah but look at this. so we can get a better picture of what those stats mean. Here are the opponents of both teams "Since week 11" and their offensive rankings -- Chiefs Oakland - 11th @New England - 15th Denver - 28th @Chicago - 29th Los Angeles Chargers - 10th Houston - 13th Tennessee - 12th --- Niners Green Bay - 18th @Baltimore - 2nd @ New Orleans - 9th Atlanta - 5th Los Angeles Rams - 7th @ Seattle - 8th Minnesota - 16th Green Bay - 18th -- So "since week 11" the Chiefs defense has better numbers than the Niners but they only played 1 top 10 offense (10th ranked Chargers at home). The Niners played 5 top 10 offenses, 3 of them on the road. I would hope the Chiefs defense had better numbers in that stretch. the "since week 11" was carefully chosen by the tweeter to make a flawed point. EDIT- jetnation06 beat me to it.
