I think the comparisons stop at the height/weight. Henry is way faster and honestly way better in every aspect of the game. Jacobs was a supplemental piece of a dual backfield running game. Henry is all pieces involved and then some. He's a home run threat and a tough between the tackles runner. These past two games have been incredible.
Yes Henry is better ... but in terms of size, speed and running style, very similar. Henry is not way faster. Jacobs 40 time was the same as Henry's and he also averaged 5 ypc in his premier years. Derrick is definitely the upgraded model. No debate there.
Okoye is also a good comparison. But to refresh your memory ... EDIT: Ugghhhhh ... video blocked by NFL. But take a look on YouTube and you may think differently
Jacobs was a poser. Straight line stiff and a role player for the most part. No real versatility and not a work horse. I think Shonn Green compares more favorably to Jacobs. Henry is on a whole other level.
I don't really have the complete numbers, but judging by season longs, Jacobs had one rush over 44 yards in his career with his career long being 73 and one reception over that mark at 74 yards. Henry has season longs of 75, 99 and 74 and add in reception longs of 66 and 75. The breakaway speed is the difference between the two. Jacobs was a bruiser and a dope goal line back. But he was never the bell cow that Henry has turned into in the past year and a half.
I agree Henry is a better back, but "POSER" might be a bit strong for Jacobs. 2007 11 games ... 1009 yards, 5 ypc , 6 TDs 2008 16 games ... 1,089 yards 5 ypc, 15 TDs 2010 ... was already banged up, backing up Bradshaw ... 823 yards, 5.6 ypc, 9 TDs I'd take any one of those years over what we got from Bell this year. So would anyone. Jacobs was a very good back. Regardless, I was talking more along the line of style more than production. The problem with guys like Jacobs and Okoye ... and even Campbell was their style beat the crap out of them. I think Henry is very similar. Will be interesting to see if his body holds up over the next theee years.
We should all be glad New England lost week, because you know what? after what I saw today, they could have made the Super Bowl again. The Ravens just got dismantled at home, and they were supposed to be the team that would save us. Thankfully the Titans saved us last week, because I don't think the Ravens would have done it now, I think New England would have gone into Baltimore and beaten them, or even Houston.
Vrabel is Coach of the Year hands down I would call knocking off both the Pats and Ravens at home back to back fairly spectacular in this era Plus he's more personable with lunch pail demeanor than BB
After watching Bosa blow stuff up on the playoff stage and Allen make some real impact plays this season (including vs. the Jets) its hard to not feel a little twinge or two of disappointment in Q so far. I'm hopeful he develops and improves but at this point its hard to picture him having the big time impact that even the casual fan can't help but notice like some of these other guys drafted right around him.
Tennessee has been ridiculous. Derrick Henry is beasting it. Tannehill has been efficient. Defense has been really stepping it up in the playoffs. And Brett Kern is a punting god.
I think it will be close, but Andy Reid HAS GOT to get this done now.....the Chiefs are probably the best team remaining IMO and if they reach the Super Bowl, I would have to favor them.
Taking the point with the Hawks laying them with KC....I think KC rolls today.....GB has won a ton of close games they could easily have gone 10-6 or 9-7...I think their record is inflated...I see the Hawks winning outright
What does this mean? I am in AC and will bet. Both games under. But what does laying the points mean?
Thanks my friend. @FJF Done $100 for Chiefs to cover 10 and under. $100 for Packers to cover 4 and under. One of them should come thru right?
