Rex. He was the DC for the number 1 ranked defense in 09 and top 5 defense in 2010. Then it all went to shit in general.
I think the major players here would prefer to win with the Jets then elsewhere. Much more gratifying don't you think?
But we are not missing any of those players. It’s not like they are carrying their new teams to the playoffs. Every team has list of players that used to play for them and are now in the playoffs.
Perhaps 10 years ago.. Potential only carries a team so far. There's a limited amount of "next years". The major players at some point want to win in a time frame that includes their best playing days. Yeah, they can wait around for the Jets to finally get it right OR, they'll leave and sign with a team that already has it right.
Nobody said they were essential. The point is they're in the playoffs. Again, riding the pine on a playoff team is far better than watching the playoffs on TV. That list of ex-jets is just another in the annual ex-jets in the playoffs list.
Darron Lee stinks, Neville Hewitt outplayed him by a wide margin. Glad we were able to get a pick for him.
Yes actually I think the papers should give us fans a opportunity to use there bully pulpit from time to time Im sure we would far more interesting then Manish or Cimini
I actually liked Pettine when we had him. He was a quiet coach but the players seemed to like him. He was learning defense from Rex but opposite as far as personality. Unfortunately the Browns hired him as head coach and ruined him, per usual. But as far as I remember he was a pretty good DC, and he's not doing bad in GB with almost nothing to work with.
Certainly over all of the others that were paraded through training camp and the retirement chaos that ensued with Catanzaro and his eventual replacements...
Cimini should have done some homework, God forbid. Many of the names here are back up at best and would not have help us one iota. Key exception is the kicker that cost us at least one game, may be more. Lee stats were marginal this year for Seattle and was wise to move away from him. Pete Carrol, well really know. Why didn't we go back to BB and how he ditches the Jets.
Pete Carroll is the "what if" for me. He might have got something going if he was given half a chance. Instead we got Rich Kotite.
No. Carroll himself said a couple of years ago that it was getting fired from the Jets then the Patriots that made him sit down and do some soul searching for an entire year. He said that he learned tremendously from that and totally changed his approach. We could have given him 30 years and I don't think he would have ever learned or developed.
If I watched just film of him when he was with us I would agree. But watching Russell Wilsom this year makes me wonder. Then again I think Manning made Gase look good so maybe Wilson is doing the same for Shotty right now.
I though he tried something like that before we hired him. The same kinda soul searching Jim Morrison used.
