I am biased. Darnold Lamar Mayfield Allen Rosen Full disclosure: I wanted Mayfield first Rosen second. I am glad I was wrong. Happy with Darnold. How about your ranking?
Seems like 2 votes to keep the thread, but I think there should be some indication that the image is fake. If I have to rank the QBs, I'd go with: 1. Jackson 2. Darnold 3. Mayfield 4. Allen 5. Rudolph 6. Rosen Also 2019 for fun: 1. Murray 2. Minshew 3. Lock 4. Jones 5. Haskins 6. Grier
Keep it open. What else do we have to discuss (besides Gase). My rank - based on performance up until now: 1. Jackson 2. Darnold 3. Mayfield/Allen 4. Allen/Mayfield 5. Rosen Rudolph has done better than most expected, but he hasn't been asked to be a FQB for his team, so I think he's under a lot less pressure and scrutiny. Going forward, IF...and that's a BIG IF...Douglas can fix the OL and get a stud WR, and Gase gets his head out of his ass, I think Darnold can be the best over the long run, though still not as good as Mahomes.
I think the OP post was correct for now. Jackson is the best as of now, then Darnold. That part could change. After that I think Mayfield is a better pocket passer but Allen may end up with the better career. Mayfield is beginning to remind me of another browns 1st round qb from recent history. And Rosen is on the verge of being gone, I never had faith in him and glad we didn't draft him. That said if he went somewhere else he may have been better, it's still possible.
Either that or Gased and Confused should edit the OP and title so that it very clearly indicates that the graphic and rankings now appear to be bogus.
I don't know what it is, maybe Defenses figure it out, but QBs who take the NFL by storm due in large part to their legs never seem to pan out in the long hall: Joe Theisman Randall Cunningham Mike Vick RG3 Kaepernick Tim Tebow (he never took the NFL by storm but got to the POs with his legs and ONE lucky pass) Josh Allen (he never took the NFL by storm but got to the POs with his legs. J-Raw24's "a slightly more accurate Tebow" is spot on) And now Lamar. Maybe Harbaugh is using Lamar in ways that RG3/Vick were never used. Harbaugh seems content with Lamar running the ball with designed plays versus trying to make him a pocket passer for the good of his career. But anyway, QBs that are true pocket passers BUT can throw on the run seem to have good, long careers. Lamar comes close to this description but replace his 4.2 speed with more typical 4.8 speed and I don't think Lamar is the #1 Qb for too long. As D's figure his game out and his own injuries pile up, his shine will dim and he will fall in line with other QBs. In 3 years: Darnold Mayfield Lamar everyone else
Steve Young? Fran Tarkenton? Once Vick got to the Eagles, he was an improved passer and no one figured him out either. Randall Cunningham as a 34 year old had a great season. The point is to continue to mature your game as you get older in the league.
Jackson Allen Mayfield Darnold Rosen It's pretty easy when you measure by wins and losses. Our rankings are meaningless. Did Sam make strides from his rookie season? Not really. Were there available excuses for it? Yes. Were the excuses the actual reason he didn't really progress? Only time can answer that. But no progress is still where we are at.
I really liked his ability and relative polish also compared to the other guys in the class. That said, QB is a leadership position and if you cannot relate to the guys you are supposed to lead you aren't going anywhere in the NFL. I'm guessing Rosen will be an amazing leader once he's in an environment where he understands the people around him. That would be Goldman Sachs...
Anyone watching the Titans/Lamar game? My prediction may not take a full 3 years. Still 21 minutes left in the game, so I guess it's 'LAMAR' time! edit: Tannyhill just pulled a Sam Darnold and ran it in from the 1 off the right side. We may have to add Tannyhill to the list! Wrong year but still, I never saw this coming from Tannyhill.
