This is really bugging Jones. I think he wants to give Garrett the softest possible landing and frame it like a mutual parting of ways (which I guess it is...though it's a firing) but I mean not moving quickly is hurting the guy in terms of finding a job next year. Enough of the limbo
It's strange honestly. Coughlin won two Super Bowls and the Giants had no problem forcing him out. Garrett has won one playoff game and Jones is acting like they're parting ways with Lombardi.
There's a lot of rumors circulating that Mike Zimmer will be out if the Vikings lose to the Saints this weekend. Seems surprising to me as he seems like a good coach. He does seem to cycle through offensive coordinators though which is the gripe. And I know he's a big doghouse guy; once you're in it via fumbling, drops, blown assignments, etc. it's hard to get out. He seems like a great fit for Dallas honestly. Ready to win situation.
McCarthy to Cowboys. That was super fast! Shocked he took the job knowing Jones will have his hand in almost everything. It seemed like he was a guy who wanted a lot of control.
Cleveland should hire Garrett. He's a ROCK solid HC who would bring instant credibility. Look what he got out of Prescott what could he do with a blue chip talent like Mayfield? He had Cooper in Dallas he'd have OBJ and Landry there. Garrett could win big there.
Jason Garrett out of the frying pan (Jerry Jones) and into an inferno (Jimmy Haslam). I think Garrett's best chance as this point is at a mid-range college program where he might actually get to be the guy who makes the decisions for a change.
Either that was a rumor that was put out by the NYC media or to get the Cowboys job, he had to change course.
I think he's perfect for Cleveland. I think the Browns have better players than Dallas at many spots and the expectations are low there. He's perfect for the Jets too but the Johnsons aren't firing Gase.
I think he had a better o line, possibly a better qb, and less drama in the wr group. I will give you that I think the browns are a better D and have a better TE. Verdict is still out on the QBs though. Cleveland remind me to much of the season Philly brought in Asomugha I just can't see them being good. That said I also don't see Garrett being good.
