Robby is going to get paid make no mistake about that. If not here then someplace else. One thing I'm pretty sure of is there is no chance they let him go to another team without getting big compensation in return. None. Zero.
Stupid would be committing almost 19 million to the guy. Just my opinion. He’s better than Berrios after all.
I don't see what the big deal is. They spent a fortune this season on trash players. $14.2 millions for Leonard (0.5 sack in 2019) Williams, CJ (3 quarters of good football in 2019) Mosley and Leveon (3 yards & a cloud of dust) Bell to name a few. Now all of a sudden they'll become fiscally responsible with our most dangerous wide receiver, Darnold's go-to guy? Same Old Jets.
What makes you think AJ Green will command big bucks? He didn't play at all in 2019, missed almost half of 2018 and he'll be 32 in 2020. Re-sign Robby, take a flier on AJ Green.
All Macagnan did was overpay for players starting with Mevi$ Fitz Skrine and ending with IR boy Enunwa Let's worry about Robbie when he gets a couple of offers from other teams...chances are they won't be 19 Mil per year..jeez I love the connection with Darnold but please negotiate smart with him
Yes, he's proven to some extent, but playing Devil's advocate, teams could opt to use their FA $ to fill other needs when they know they can possibly get a better, more well-rounded WR in the draft. Robby has improved on contested catches, but he still drops too many passes and shows too little effort at times. I could see it going either way or both ways with some teams deciding to get a WR in the draft, while others go after him.
You missed my point. In your first sentence, you say that you "would" pay Robbie 11-12 million. Then you say he's a worse Tyrell Williams. You follow that up saying "I like him but not enough to pay him that much. " Tyrell Williams is getting $11 million, correct? So how can you say you don't like him enough to pay him that much? You're contradicting yourself. I'm not disagreeing with what Williams is getting, what WR2s get, or what Robbie's worth. I'm only pointing out that you are seemingly contradicting yourself.
I understand. I think its a misunderstanding. I don't think he's as good but close and his coonnection with Darnold puts him on par for me.. 11-12. The "I don't think he's worth it" was to 13+ per year.
The fact that Robby is going to be the best free agent wide receiver this offseason tells you how awful this free agent classes. He’s probably going to benefit from that as other posters have pointed out, only other posters think that means he’s actually worth that much. I get it, you are worth what someone pays you, but I think anyone looking at Robby as a whole understands what he is and that sure as shit isn’t $13-$15 million per year among wide receivers in the entire NFL.
John Brown, who in my opinion, when healthy, is light years better than Anderson in ever way signed a 3 year deal with Buffalo last year. 3 years 27 million 11.7 guaranteed at signing.
Robby's worth what the market pays for him. If there's a team willing to give him 13-15M per year, then that's what he's worth. That team might realize they made a mistake down the road, but Robby doesn't care about that. Also, I have a feeling that if the Jets are only willing to match the highest external offer, then Robby's a goner. I think he wants to play for a better team.
Same old Jets would be grossly overpaying for moderately productive homegrown talent. This isn’t like letting Riggins walk. And I like Robby. But allocating that much cap space to him is just negligent.
