The cap wasn't friendly for the Jets after 2010. By the time 2013 came around the OL was average and the cap was still bad. 2014 and on were the time to make some hay on the OL but the Jets thought Mangold and D'Brick had another contract in them and instead they were a year or two from retirement. Also, all the trade-ups and picks traded for vets really began to hit them hard as the 26 and 27 year olds that might still have been with the franchise were personified by an NFL graveyard of retired vets (Kris Jenkins - 3rd and 5th in '08, Dustin Keller - trade-up that cost them 4th in '08, Mark Sanchez - trade-up that cost them 2nd in '09, Lito Sheppard - 5th in '09, Braylon Edwards - 3rd in '10, Santonio Holmes - 5th in '10, Antonio Cromartie - 2nd in '11, etc.) Couple that with the fact that the Jets were drafting *bad* defensive players high up instead of offensive players and we get to rock bottom which is where we were sitting going into 2018.
Robbie has an awe inspiring connection with SD .. But Kid should take a reality check whether he's another Amari Cooper or Taevon Austin Sometimes you knock on the Markets door and it's humbling what it says your worth I think Uncle Joe Douglas will have a meaningful sit down with him and his agent with an enlightening and fair offer...maybe throw in a free geta outa jail pass and a lifetime membership to Legal Zoom
The franchise tag exists so that no team is forced to part with their best player without at least having some say in the situation. It also exists to artificially suppress salaries by preventing the Dan Snyders and Jerry Jones of the world from paying whatever it takes to get the best player whose contract is expiring. A gazillion dollars plus 2 1st round picks is just enough to keep things sane even with the guys who want to make a huge cannonball in every pool they see.
Given it's jonnyd we have no idea if him calling anybody a dick is a compliment or not. It's like 50/50 based on his posting history. If he'd called SJ a dildo I'd have had no doubt he was being complimentary.
There is no way on gods green earth they let him walk away for nothing. Why do such a stupid thing? It's not like Adams or Darnold are up for new deals right now. They should have enough cap space.
Check out this short recent vid...Quincy speaks. He's been at 1 Jets Drive all season rehabbing (versus rehabbing at home). He badly want to stay connected to the team and play again in 2020. Let's keep our fingers crossed! https://www.newyorkjets.com/video/quincy-enunwa-would-love-to-play-in-2020
With Darnold healthy those numbers look a lot better on average. I guess this short sided opinion included AL the other times when he open down the field and our qbs couldn't hit him?
I find that hard to believe. He's still on his rookie deal I can't imagine any way the franchise tag is not a option. I put the odds of the Jets allowing Robby to hit the open market at 0%.
The market decides what he's worth not you or I. We know for a fact that teams have been trying to trade for him and the Jets have declined. Knowing that how could the Jets justify allowing a VALUABLE ASSET to walk out the door for nothing in return in 2020? Allow him to sign with any team of his choosing possibly New England, Buffalo or Miami? Or heck why not the Giants? That would be the height of stupidity, incompetence. It'll never happen.

The market overpays all the time. Tyrell Williams is a better plays and makes 11 per. No reason to overpay robbie.
Lol. We could cut all our players making over say 8 million and sign every WR on the market we can. Then Sam has no excuses for not having targets.
