12 would be my top dollar but yeah I'm not breaking the bank on Robbie. Scherf needs to be #1 target IMO .
If there is a team dumb enough to offer him $13 million per year then we should absolutely let him walk. I would say he’s worth $12 million maximum to us only because he’s already got a bond with the quarterback. No idea why a team would pay him more than that to come into a brand new situation.
I agree. But some teams are desperate enough to need a receiver like Philly, Oakland and Indianapolis. And it arguably kept the latter two from the playoffs. Philly was starting two guys off the street last week against the Giants.
it's free agency, the cap goes up teams are desperate. you almost always over pay for a top player in free agency. robbys value right now is in the 10-13 mil range a year over 4-5 years. i'd happily pay his value but if a team offers him 15-16 mil i wouldn't match it. I want to keep robby but I don't want to over pay.
They turned down trade offers for him. They developed him from a undrafted free agent to what he is now they gave him his chance in the NFL. Now let him walk away lose him for nothing? Let another team reap the reward? Utter madness. Try to make him a offer he can't refuse before he hits the open market. Failing that you better believe the franchise tag is a option it better be. He'll be one of the top available possibly the TOP wr available in free agency.
He's not asking for 12 million he wants 13-14 minimum. He could get 15 million on the market or more... depends on what wr are available.
The franchise him and they're paying him 18 million next season. There is no way on gods green earth he's worth anything near that much.
franchise tag is 18.5 mil for 2020. transition tag is a little under 16 mil. I'd consider a transition tag TBH 16 mil for 1 year isn't a huge commitment and it gives us the opportunity to match any offer and decline to match if it's too much. we wouldn't get a pick back, but it's not a bad option here all things considered.
I don't think that way, but if that's the direction the Jets decide to go, I sure hope they're right! That said, with Robbie saying he wants to test the FA waters and wants the most money he can get, he's probably a goner.
Someone said this on the board today. Craziest statement I've ever seen. They aren't right. Berrios ain't even a deep threat.
Whereas Cooper has more talent, he's also more inconsistent on a year-to-year basis. His first two years were great with Oakland (2015-2016), then his 3rd season in Oakland he started 14 games but only appeared in 12 and his numbers were way down. In 2018 he wasn't very good in Oakland (only 280 yards in 6 games), but then was pretty good with the Cowboys the rest of last season. This season he was very good again with his highest ypc avg for his career, but he was benched yesterday and was said to be completely gassed. He probably would cost a lot more than Anderson. Which player would we get? I think I'd rather just draft Lamb, Jeudy, Higgins or Jefferson.
We don't need to invest any other resources in the DL. Enough resources have been expended on the DL to last a decade. The only reason for expending more resources on the DL would be if we switch to a 4-3 full time. OTOH, Sam needs reliable targets with a variety of skills/attributes. If Anderson, Thomas and Bellamy are gone, that leaves Crowder, Berrios and Vyncint Smith. We need more than one decent pick used on WR. We haven't had homegrown top quality WRs in a decade or more.
cooper is slated to pull in 19-20 mil a year on his new deal his issue is he isn't physical. his numbers dipped because he was getting pressed and man handled on the line. I've watched a few cowboy games and he seemed to have improved on beating press this year. cooper is a WR1 and young but i wouldn't drop 20 mil on him personally. i'd be happier with robby at 13 mil and use the other 7 mil elsewhere
