    I'm not sure I understand what you're saying. If I do understand, I don't think the 49ers problem was switching OCs so often. I think the problem was failing to find the right OC, and once they did (the Harbaugh-Roman tandem), things immediately turned around.

    What I'm saying is that constantly switching offensive systems NEVER helps a quarterback.

    Mike McCarthy and Norv Turner were two of those three coordinators in Alex Smith's first three years.

    You're trying to compare Alex Smith's first years in the league to his 7th and 8th year. When I was comparing Smith's first years to Darnold's first years.
