The Jets hired Washington, D.C., lawyer David Socie, who has a law degree from St. John's, to manage the salary cap and negotiate contracts.

This is from today's Newsday. I wish there was a little more to the story but I thought you guys would like to know. Hopefully in the next couple of days there will be more on this guy.

He's the GM now, remember? ;)

Seriously, I guess he's still involved in contracts, etc., but this guy will be doing it full time, bringing recommendations, watching for loopholes, etc. MT won't have the timeany more with his additional duties.

When Tanny moved to GM the team said that they would get someone to fill his old role.

Sounds like to me we have a solid FO (for once). No more easy money contracts will be given out, I hope!

You guys can rag on this move but it looks like this guy knows what he's doing. He has a feel for the league and the cap.

Hey, weren't they ragging on that kid here in Beantown too? lol Not a baseball fan so I can't remember his name, but he helped them win a World Series. It's all in good fun... Epstein. Most Boston fans seem to be referring to him a$$hole lately. lol

How on God's green earth, based on these little clippings on this guy's bio, can you confidently come to the conclusion that "he has a feel for the leauge and the cap."?

I'm neither thrilled nor do I dislike this move. Young, Old, Black, White, Catholic, Athiest.....Unless they give me a reason not too, I will support this front office 100%.

Has anyone heard wether or not we found a Pro Personnel Director? Right when Tanny was made GM, there was speculation that they would hire George Kokinis from the Ravens but that Ozzie didn't want him to leave (probably until after the draft, if at all).

Couldn't agree more. Listen, I don't have insider info on this guy like the kid from Jetstv..lol..but the guy has been involved with cap disputes between the league and theNFLPA. He is also being credited for helping with contract disputes...ala TO. Do I know if this guy is a cap guru, no, but i have faith.

A good pick if John Abraham files a grievance against the Jets. CBA bans franchising players for the sole purpose of trading the player.

According to them MR. T does. But I think it's a joint effort.
