Both players should be considered untradeable. You do not see top teams trading away their best players in their prime. Only the Giants do that.
I'm still not 100% sold they trade Bell. If they build an Oline in the draft he could be useful. Depends on how FA/draft goes and what is offered. With the high pick we could easily trade back and get a solid line and a decent WR. Would make our offense pretty formidable. If Sam is what we hope he is then Bell, Robbie, a WR that is a redzone and jump ball machine, Crowder, and hopefully healthy Herndon/Griffin would be great behind a rebuilt oline. Add in a power back like AJ Dillon and/or a shifty back and we could cause a lot of trouble. After than we would actually need to focus on defense. But I hope this year is 80% offensive focus.
That's just not true. It certainly happens. Whether we should do it or not is up in the air and debatable. Jerome Bettis John Abraham Antonio Brown Randy Moss Terrell Owens Odell Beckham Jr. Marshall Faulk Khalil Mack Marshawn Lynch Steve Largent Carson Palmer Darrell Revis
Why do you think bad teams stay bad? They made dumbass decisions like trading a 3rd and a 5th round pick for a guy they could get in FA or they draft 5 interior defensive linemen in 10 years with a 1st round pick. Trading Bell would be beyond stupid. They should just ride him 1 more season and then they can release him in 2021, let him be here to help with Sam's development. This is the Jets though, they don't make smart decisions.
The Patriots seem to wait until the player only has one or two good years left before getting high first or second round picks from lousy teams that end up high in the draft. Adams is a stud on his rookie deal and Bell might be one of the top 5 RBs in the league if he had a real OL blocking for him. The Patriots would never trade a guy like Adams on his rookie deal unless the guy was a clubhouse cancer.
The Jets have no good reason to trade either player. They are both leaders on and off the field that fit what the Jets are trying to do.
They would trade him before that deal expires though. Which is exactly the predicament we're in. Go ask Bill Belichick if he'd give Rodney Harrison the top safety contract in the NFL. He'd laugh at you. He tossed Lawyer Milloy away like it was nothing. The NFL thought he was nuts.
Yea. Right. Trade away some of our best players this way we can draft more busts and have a roster full of backup's. Right. Put an O-Line in front of Bell and an outside pass rush in front of Jamal Adams but you don't trade them away if you're looking to win you don't. Jesus Christ.
ri right? people are insane. lets draft a stud player then trade him away so we can draft someone probably not as good then complain we have no talent and refuse to build through good drafting.
Isn't this exactly how good teams get better? "Oh you have an all pro you don't want? Here have our first round pick thats basically a 2nd and our 3rd round that's basically a 4th. Both have over a 50% chance of never producing a starter but its more picks right."
I have an idea. Let's trade all of our good players like Darnold, Adams, Bell, Mosley etc this way we can replace them with unproven rookie O-Lineman and have holes everywhere lol bunch of idiots.
Think we can get a first round pick if we pair them like that? Could be worth it... we could just play 10 offensive lineman and Bilal.
no they get better by keeping good young talent on the roster and adding more. taking away talent doesn't make you better
Would you hold onto Adams if the Saints offered two 1's? I'd seriously consider pulling the trigger. We could upgrade the OL and skill players quickly. We could trade down and get another 2nd rounder. Yes, I know draft picks are a crapshoot, but we need to hit on more picks if we ever want to contend for the playoffs.
nope i wouldn't. 2 late 20s early 30s picks in back to back years extra isn't going to rebuild the team and it puts a huge hole at safety too
An above average safety isn't helping us much now. Those picks can be used to beef up the OL, WR, CB, etc.....
