at 12 seconds Sam clearly tells Gase to fuck off, bell gives a stare down to gase after and David Fales has the fear of god on his face and its hilarious
Was this after Sams awful pick or later in the game? I knew it was over after that pick so I went to sleep.
I mean, doesn't this feel like even Darnold is tired of the lame ass offensive scheme and coaching of, Gase? I mean, I understand why he says what he says in front of the media, that's called being a professional. God I hope Gase is fired at the end of the season. Jesus.
I think Darnold should just revolt. Who holds the cards here. The Jets are not gonna part ways with Sam. Just say fuck you and take the offense over. Ignore his play calls, when you think otherwise, and audible or change plays in the huddle that fit your ability better.
I was willing to accept another year of him (like I have a choice) bc of continuity and players hopefully taking the next step in his scheme. But if players are done with him and fans never wanted him he needs to go. Jets are gonna put themselves in a terrible spot if he doesn't get off to a great start next year everything is going to implode and we'll have wasted another year. New GM's first off season is the perfect time to move on. I know it won't happen but how can you not see the writing on the wall with this guy, Mr Johnson??
Yeah I mean if the players punt on Gase then it's a no brainer to fire him. It hasn't looked like they have but maybe internally they are and this sure isn't a good look.
I think its great. Darnold needed to get tougher and thats what this is all about. He responded like I imagine Gase hopes he would
I think this is the first time a qb and coach ever had a heated exchange on the sideline of a game in the history of the sport.
No, no. We must overreact to the fact that this is the meltdown of Gase. I like how Bell just looks over at his QB and coach fighting and it's relayed in the OP as "Bell gives Gase the stare down." I just hope this is fire and frustration and not resentment.
If Sam says Gase must go, Gase will be gone...The ONLY reason why Gase is here is to develop Sam. That gentlemen, may be the only way we get rid of "The Genius".
Good to see Darnold show some fire on the sidelines, and although I'm not sure this a big deal, I'll reiterate that why did Chris Johnson give a vote of confidence for Gase for next season?
And if Sam likes Gase that means we are SOL right? Because we shouldn't trust Darnold if that's the baseline.
Especially since it was only halfway into the season and he had no way of knowing how the rest of the year would unfold. That's why I think that we shouldn't read too much into the statement. I think it was just a tactic to decrease media attention on Gase's job security. If Johnson has half a brain (yeah...I know) he will sit down and carefully assess the pros and cons of retaining Gase as well as the alternatives that are available. I would personally not be mad if they gave Williams the HC position and let him hire a top OC to mentor Darnold. I would be equally as happy with Rivera. Don't @ me about Rhule or Harbaugh. It's not happening.
Sam is a 22 year old, laid back, Cali kid. He has literally said he's loved every coach he's had. At this point, Sam publicly praising someone should be met with a grain of salt. It's behind the scene and how he feels that's important. If he's sick and tired of Gase, he may go to Cj and say so, I'm not counting on it, but it's probably the only way we get out of this mess this year.
It’s possible....if he kicked in Gase’s door earlier, he might kick in CJ’s door with “Dude! He’s gotta go...he totally harshing my vibe out there man!”
The rhule possibility has sailed, as they stupidly didn't sign him last season. Overall agreed, we'll have to see how things unfold.
