Last play in end zone is about the best DB play you will see, perfect coverage - no contact, swat the ball, Pats Lose :}
I think it is pretty safe to say, the Brady reign is coming to an end. I never like saying that because he always proves it wrong, but this NE offense is some pretty bad stuff. Brady has an 88 rating on the year and if it wasn't for a great defense, they would be losing week after week
IIRC, the remainder of Brady's contract can be voided after this season, so it might finally be the end of #12 in a Pats uniform.
I'm rooting for an Eli ending - at least a year or two of bad play because they're unwilling to take the PR hit of benching / cutting him (you could argue that this year is that at some level). That's not their history under BB, of course, but it's never been Tommy Boy before. At this point they have a championship defense and a mediocre-at-best quarterback, and are thy willing to let that continue with players like Jackson and Mahomes in the conference and a defense like Buffalo's in the division?
I almost see Belichick resigning before that happens. He must've thrown a fit when they traded Garroppolo behind closed doors because there were rumors about it. And that franchise is always air tight. I can't see Belichick being content with Brady after this year. And as good as Brady is (the GOAT) I think Belichick is an even better coach. Look no further than the franchise not missing much of a beat when Cassell took over.
BB sure isn't going to be happy when he compares today's Tommy Boy stat line versus Garoppolo stat line.
Who do you think Belichick would want to replace Brady with? They have Stidham, but odds are (like any other 4th rounder) he's not a franchise QB. Also, FWIW I've never bought into Brady being the GOAT. He's certainly an all-time great, but he isn't better than the other all-time greats; he just had Belichick coaching his team.
I want to write them off but all it takes is for the Ravens to go one and done, and the Patriots find their way in.
I won't write them off yet, but the fact is that they've lost their last 3 games played against teams with a winning record. That's not a winning formula in the playoffs. If KC can win out (which they should) and New England loses one of their last three (against Buffalo maybe?) Baltimore and KC get the byes and New England has to win three games against good teams to get to the Super Bowl.
