Absolutely. But a small stretch of wins against bottom feeders and an average Raiders team doesn’t forgive him for that shitshow against NE and the implosion against Buffalo

There are many, many things to blame Gase for this season, but the 'implosion' against Buffalo isn't really one of them. They are a very good defence who have stopped a lot of teams since playing the Jets. If the D had held up and we had had a kicker worth anything on the roster then we win. The kicker wasn't down to Gase and the D was down to Williams.
I will give credit at the end of the season for “turning the season around” once I see them them play Cincy, Dolphins, Buff, and Pitt. If we win 3 out of those 4...I will give a lot of credit. One thing you can’t deny is Gase’s ability to script the first 15-18 plays of the game. He clearly knows how to watch film and attack teams based on what he sees in game prep.
They're still 4-7 and not making the playoffs. I have to give them credit for not being 1-10 at this point but its all relative. Luckily, my expectations were low for 2019 anyway so all of this is upside.
My expectations were right around 7-9 to 9-7. I will be thrilled with that especially if Darnold continues his play as that was the most important thing this season.

C'mon though, it's not as if we caught a break by playing NCAA teams. These are other NFL teams that we compare our team to. Don't blame success on a "soft schedule" any more than claiming a team is good despite their record because "the played a tough schedule". What makes a schedule tough is travel and off days. What ultimately makes a schedule soft is being better than those teams.
