I checked the math 10 times and came up with 0 9 times. Came up with 2.237 the other time but I’m throwing that result out.
Wish I could find this article but somewhere it stated that the Jets were looking more long term in developing Edoga over Shell...it also mentioned Shell has actually played better than Edoga this year but Shell is up to get paid so he's expected a nice pay raise. I think shell has been solid so the Jets will be fine
The article sounds convoluted. It admits She’ll has played better but because that also means he would cost more to re-sign then they would rather develop Edoga? I realize Edoga is just a rookie but he’s still on a rookie deal. That doesn’t mean they should just toss Shell aside if they feel he’s playing well. I can see a spot on this roster for Shell as a backup RT or Guard.
Edoga has been atrocious and a huge liability so this is a silver lining. Hopefully he improves in the offseason and makes adjustments to come back better next year.
Honestly he was learning and when they moved him to cover the left side he just couldn't adapt. I think he has potential. I'd like to see him with a few better players around him.
I don’t feel better players around him are going to help him from getting beat like a rag doll. He is constantly getting beat 1 on 1 when he plays either tackle. He now has his feet wet with NFL pass rushers so hopefully he can adjust in the offseason. If he can’t cut it as a tackle, can always think of moving him to a guard.
Id like to see him move to guard permanently. He looks more like a left guard in his style but seems more comfortable on the right side. His athleticism is optimized & his lack of length is minimized in the phone booth
That seems to be the prevailing opinion. Which means the Jets would need to find two tackles this offseason - one for both sides - if they are moving on from Beachum and Shell.
