Just remember reading in our match thread that he overdone the "stick em" lol in all fairness that makes it a quality celebration then, as it looked very realistic lol I missed a lot of Maddens so didn't recognise that as a game celebration, think I bought 12 and then the next was 17
Not every move the jets are going to make(or any team) is for a special player. Jenkins is a good football player, we should be in the business of keeping those.
I don't think he's easily replaceable at all. It took us 3 seasons to replace Calvin Pace. Setting the edge and playing tough nosed football on the strong side is a very underrated part of the game especially as more teams run those jet sweep type plays. I'm keeping Jenkins at all costs and I think $8 million per year is OK. Letting him walk creates a bigger hole than you think. He fits the bill of exactly what his scouting report said he'd be out of college. Good tough nosed football player that sets the edge. He'll be an even more effective edge rusher as we get better corner play.
Average is not easily replaceable in this league, but you are underrating him a bit. Strong edge setter and under rated pass rusher. 9.5 sacks in his last 17 games.
He's our best edge rusher, which isn't saying much, but a similar player will probably cost more in FA. As long as it's on a reasonable deal, he can stay. Letting him walk would leave another hole on a team that already has a lot of them. Extending him shouldn't stop the team from taking an edge rusher in the draft.
That’s all I’m saying if it’s reasonable. If he demands more than average LB type of money, he should walk. He’s way too average to overpay for imo.
Yes. He plays smart and knows how to get open and from there can catch the football and appears to be great running after the catch. Really nice size on him too he looks legit.
Exactly - well said. The Jets have enough holes - they can’t replace everybody. Jenkins is a good football player. You can’t have pro bowlers at every position. Every team needs players like Jenkins. The smart move would be to extend him now and find somebody ( a better pass rusher ) to pair with him on the other side. Not only will it fill a major hole in the defense but it will elevate Jerkins’s play. A pass rushing specialist would thrive with an edge setter like Jenkins across from him .
Way too small of a sample size to give good money to. You can cherry pick his last 17 games but while you’re at it, why don’t you cherry pick his first 17 while you’re at it? I’d rather pay on overall production than a small sample size. Last thing we need is this team overpaying players like they have a tendency to do.
Career stats he has improved every year. He’s already a good player and has yet to peak. 2.5 sacks as a rookie, 3 in his second year, 7 last year. 5 so far this year while missing 2-3 games. A perfect strong side olb in the mold of Calvin pace.
It’s not going to elevate his play since no teams are doubling him and game planning around him. Most of his sacks are coverage sacks as well. He will get pressure if they have a TE on him but if it’s a true OL on him, he’ll get coverage sacks from time to time but he isn’t a disrupter that you’re going to pay good money too. If he wants middle the road money, then sure bring him back.
He absolutely blew up Kolton Miller a couple of times today. Miller, whose turning into a very good left tackle after a bad rookie campaign. I'm just curious as to what you believe is appropriate vs. too much?
