It's really bad taste but someone had to do it... I often rent cars from Hertz and every time I do I think of OJ running through the airport. I think Hertz was the first major Brand to make a black athlete it's spokesperson on national tv. OJ really lived the American dream before his demons got the best of him. OJ was really the first black athlete to transcend race at least until the murders and trial where everything went to shit. It's amazing how far you can rise and how fast you can fall. I still remember him at USC. He was an incredible football player.
isn't it a bit surprising that Marshall Faulk is not on that list? I didn't see Eric Dickerson either... or... Adrian Peterson Jim Taylor is a joke to include compared to those other guys on the original list
Barry sanders had to make 2 guys miss just to take the handoff.no one on that list did more with less.
understood but there's a reason the single season rushing record will never be broken in our lifetimes.
The rule changes that favor the passing game? Or the running back by committee approach? Of course we can’t forget that sanders was a lock to break that record before retiring in his prime.
I agree about Taylor although I'm sure there are several LB and Safeties who think he belongs. He was a wrecking ball.
In Sanders 2000 plus yard season he averaged 6.1 per attempt. Dickerson on his record breaking season averaged 5.6 per attempt. Sanders also had more yards from scrimmage. Sanders 6 all pro years in 10, Dickerson 5 in 11. Sanders through 10 seasons averaged 99.8 per game. Dickerson 90.8. Hard to give any edge to Dickerson. Sanders is in the argument for GOAT with Jim Brown. Of course he losses to Jim Brown.
If Sanders played today they would ruin him. Honestly, some teams may have kept him on the bench...maybe that's overstating it, but there's no way they would've let him play the same way He'd have 5 -5 yard runs in row then he'd bust off a 50 yarder. Yeah, sure the average is over 4 yards a carry there but that's ridiculous. NFL teams today are strict about efficiency in the running game. -- if he adapted well to today's game he would look like Saquon Barkley. If he struggled with changing his game, C.J. Spiller. Either way - he would not be the Barry Sanders we know
What about Frank Gore for this list? If Curtis Martin has an argument, and I think he does, then Gore does too
Gore's only elite ability is his ability to never be hurt. He's already played more games than Emmitt Smith. I like Gore, but he's the definition of a stat compiler.
