Yes, but Woody was still in charge when he said the Jets would pay any kneeling fines the players incur wasn't he? I'm done with this team if they sign Kaepernick. And not even for political reasons. It's just Tebow all over again.
You know that people will still go to games; Jets fans have always gone to games but they can still send a message if they do. Don't wear green, don't wear white - wear red, the color of blood. Wear shirts like the one to the left here, wear the Fire Gase shirts, but print them in red. Wear "Fire the Johnsons" shirts; wear "sell the Jets, Johnson and Johnson" shirts. Line Paterson Plank Rd, Washington Avenue and Route 3 with every peddler in New Jersey for every remaining home game selling these things. Where are those slimy entrepreneurs when you need them most? Bring extra food and extra drinks to your tailgate, enough so you don't buy a single thing inside the stadium. (Okay, buy all the beer you want, you'll need it.) Then wait outside the stadium. Don't go inside until after the anthem is played. Yeah, you'll probably miss the Jets fumble the kickoff or Darnold get sacked a couple of times or throw a pick six but the game is long, you'll get plenty more chances; you'll get to see terrible plays called, the clock mismanaged and red flags thrown at ridiculous times. You'll see all the penalties you want and timeouts burned foolishly. Let the cameras pan around the stadium and the announcers talk about the empty seats because then they'll have to show thirty or forty thousand fans outside only then shuffling through the checkpoints. Look up at the dronecam and salute it with a finger on each hand because you're a Jets fan and you have been doublefucked by the Johnson brothers. Once inside let them hear how you feel: "G-A-S-E, Gase Must Go!" and "S-E-L-L, Sell This Team!" Don't even think about buying any merchandise there, if you insist on getting your kid a present get a Chinese knockoff; teach your kids a life lesson about taking a stand for what's right! Enjoy your day!
the backup QB is David Fales. Kaepernick would be an upgrade in talent. I'm not lighting pitchforks to get them to sign the guy but hell, lets be honest, he would definitely be upgrading the roster but yeah, they won't sign him anyway
Johnson said there will be no changes at HC, but it was the twitter guy that added the "no matter what." those are different statements and that's important to consider
Right. But it's not about football. It's about the media circus that follows. Don't you remember Tebow? I don't think Gase has it in him to control that to be honest. Rex didn't, he just added fuel to the circus fire.
it should be about football though. getting the best players on the roster to try and win, might be a strategy this organization should consider sometime
What it should be about and what it ultimately ends up being about are two different things. The media circus affects players IMO. They don't like it and it adds eyes and unneeded pressure, especially on Darnold. You and I have went back and forth on this before and agreed that coddling QB's is for pussies. But I think this would really fuck with him having to talk about Kaepernick taking his job every week and the 'historic moment for football' bullshit that therefore follows.
Is this the longest thread in theganggreen.com history? If not, we ought to let it run so it will be.
