Hopefully the money motivates him to get to contract #3. Something tells me it won't though. I just hope we don't give him the $10-$12 million a year he's going to want.
I'm with you. But he does think he should've been a Pro Bowler in 2017. He did feel the need to petition for it on camera after scoring a touchdown on live TV.
I made the mistake of reading his twitter feed. Makes me want him here even less. I think this is his last season as a Jet.
lol at hardman or robinson being better then robby. and lol at watkins or has busted out with 3 teams after being a top 5 pick. If the jets drafted watkins 4th overall and then 7th overall went evans, 12th overall went OBJ, you'd be pissed about it. but now becuase he's not a jet you'll praise a medicore WR who never lived up to the draft spot. Obviously tyrek is better. robby would be their WR2 opposite tyrek and with tyrek and kelce robby would see single coverage all day and go off. it would actually be fun to watch
LOL you really should start watching some good football teams. You're obviously confused. Watkins had an excellent rookie and 2nd year. You may have forgotten that he fractured his foot in his 3rd year and missed 8 games. He had surgery right before the next season on the same foot and had 2 screws put in it. He also had a major concussion and missed 6 games last year. When healthy he has always been a solid WR. Robbie in his wildest dreams couldn't start ahead of a healthy Watkins. FYI we drafted Pryor the year the Bills drafted Watkins with our first. I would have been delighted to have Watkins, Evans or OBJ over Pryor. Hardman would actually be a good comparison to Robbie. Hardman is actually faster with more upside along with more current production. Since he's also on a rookie 2nd round contract he cost 1/3 of what Robbie costs today and he's tied up for cheap for the next 3 years. Robbie wouldn't get many snaps on the Chiefs. Reid wouldn't put up with his route running.
What he wants and what he is worth are two different things....at this point I would say he's about a $6-7 million guy. I'd say three years for $20 million should be about right.
i watch pretty much every game lol i know watkins has an injury history. solid is fair but not 4th overall and not better right now then robby. there is a reason he's been on 3 teams in the past 4 years. maybe the injury ruined his career, it's possible but that's not the point. the point is where he stands now as a WR and that is very medicore. maybe hardman can be better then robby someday but as ti stands now, he isn't. but he's a rookie. watkins had 430 yards in 8 games and 2 TDs for the bills, they let him walk. with the rams he had 593 yards in 15 games. then with KC last yeah he had 519 yards in 10 games with hill and kelce getting all the attention and mahomes slinging it. and who cares about pryor, none of these players were a choice when we picked pryor. we could have had ford or clinton dix though
he's worth the same deal sterling shepard got. even spotrac agrees https://www.spotrac.com/nfl/new-york-jets/robby-anderson-19352/market-value/
Sammy Watkins has 40 catches 512 yards and 3 touchdowns this year. Robbie Anderson has 24 catches, 353 yards and 1 touchdown. You can argue circumstance all you want; Watkins has played two games with a backup QB, Anderson has played 4 games with a backup QB. Watkins is arguably the #3 there, with Hardman being the truest deep threat. Anderson is arguably the #2 here. Mahomes is obviously much better although he's struggled against both the Titans and Colts. I tell you one thing. I'd much rather throw the ball to Watkins on 90% of the route tree than RA.
Robbie isn't solid. Robbie isn't mediocre. He's a crappy WR who can catch a bomb once in a while. He's not in Watkins class. Mediocre would be an improvement for Robbie. Hardman is a better deep threat right now. He's productive right now as a rookie. He's also cheaper with upside. FYI Watkins had 12 receptions in 2 games that Matt Moore started. Anderson has 24 receptions in 9 games. Watkins is grossly over paid mediocre and a starting 2 in the NFL. Robbie is grossly over paid and a situational 4 or 5 in the NFL.
really depends. maybe he'll take a discount. maybe he'll get less due to lack of production. maybe he walks on a 1 year prove it deal to a good team. I mean if i was robby i'd take a 1 year deal cheap like 3-4 mil to go to GB or KC to establish his value. I wish we could get more out of him but i mean same goes to bell. bell's production right now is nowhere near worth what we are paying him but it's not his fault. same goes for robby
watkins has mahomes throwing the ball. he also has tyrek hill and travis kelce getting all the attention and double teams. Robby has luke falk, simian, mono darnold lol no o-line and nobody opposite him to get attention. u think ryan griffen and a 30+ year old DT are scaring defenses? watkins also had a massive 1898 yard 3 TD week 1 game. since then he's had 0 TDs and hasn't went over 64 yards. outside of the week 1 fluke where the D wasn't covering anyone watkins hasn't done anything. and that is with hill missing like 4 games where watkins had a chance to be the #1 yet he's produced less then DT lol also you can't compare matt moore to luke faulk or the KC o-line which is great or still having kelce
once again ok bud. think what you want. and how is robby overpaid making 3 mil. it's barely over the vet minimum. josh bellamy is getting paid pretty much the same as robby
Ok so let's subtract Anderson's 5 for 125 since we're going to cherry pick statistics to fit our arguments and he has 19 catches for 228 yards and no touchdowns. 92 yards on one play if you remember correctly.
Why would Green Bay pay him 4 to 5 million? They have drafted a guy in the 5th round this year who's just as fast, just as productive with more upside at 20% of the cost.
I'm fully aware of that too. my point was both players have had mediocre numbers. but anderson is a deep guy with no o-line, a QB who can't throw more then 30 yards for 4 games, no other weapons for defenses to worry about, where watkins has arguable the best QB in the NFL, a great o-line, and tyrek hill and travis kelce. they have a top 5 QB, o-line, WR, and TE to take pressure off watkins. his numbers should be better.
their WRs are gabage and rodgers is making it work. they have adams and then trash. ST brown is a bust, MVS is horrible, Lizard is a joke. even rodgers has to scold them lol packers would happily pay that price and robby can play opposite adams
