I was surprised that we haven't paid more attention to last week's clear-the-air summit meeting between Johnson and Adams. To me, it's a sign of dysfunction that suggests that Christopher Johnson may be more clueless than Woody, something none of us thought possible before this season. Don't forget that this is the guy who will decide whether Gase stays or goes. It also raises the specter that Johnson will actually accelerate the dysfunction in this organization, rather than fix it. As we know, Adams was bent out of shape because Douglas entertained offers to trade Adams. After Adams threw a hissy fit, Johnson sought out a meeting and met with Adams. Adams refused to talk to Douglas but he agreed to speak with Johnson. That signals trouble: 1. Adams seems to have a disproportionate idea of his own importance. Many of us feel he has to grow up and ditch the diva act if he wants to become the star he has the talent to be. When the owner seeks out a summit meeting like this, it would feed Adams' sense of self-importance because it is special treatment. Owners don't sit down with just any player like this. 2. By stepping in like this, Johnson marginalized Douglas. Douglas is the GM. If Adams has a beef with him, he should iron it out with him. Johnson delivered the message that Adams is so important that he doesn't have to deal with the GM; he can go straight to the owner. You have to wonder how that plays in the locker room with players who don't have that kind of access to the owner. You also wonder how Douglas reacted to it. I can't imagine that it gave him a warm, fuzzy feeling, more like it caused him to wonder why he took this job in the first place. 3. Adams didn't exactly have a great game yesterday, so I guess Christopher isn't a master motivator. What he said to Adams didn't bear any fruit on the field. 4. If Johnson wanted to clear the air with Adams, he should have had Douglas in the room. He should have told the two of them to work it out, and then left them alone.
youd think that the way Adams likes to tout himself that the defense would at least shut down the Dolphins, but no, they still put up 26 points. every aspect of this team is dysfunctional every player expendable. Even Darnold has people doubting his efficacy in this league. If we get #1 maybe JD does dump him and draft Tua, at this point anything and everything is on the table
Well said. Can't wait til we sign him to the richest safety contract in NFL history because the owner wants to do it and had a heart to heart with him.
