And in my eyes, this looks like Douglas does not see Gase in his future plans. Douglas confirmed he listened to trade requests for Le'veon Bell. Obviously Gase thinks Douglas would have told him if he was. This shows that there is daylight forming between them, in my opinion
Smart man..(much much more a Football mind it seems than previous 2 GMs) Plays it close to the vest...says all the right things about the Coach ..players ..and of course the Owners. So props to what Falco said^^ He's never gonna say how he REALLY feels about the Coach but it's good he finds this 1-6 record unacceptable and he knows deep down it's not "just the players dealing with adversity" of losing When does the allegiance to AG end ?????>>>the $64k question
Seeing as Gase was the catalyst to Douglas joining the Jets, I’d have to imagine it buys him at least 2 seasons.
Douglas is a GM here because of Gase. He was handpicked by Gase. Of course he's not gonna blast Gase 4 months into the job
As he leader of the organization he can’t publicly say Gase sucks or the team is not competitive. That would cause more locker room chaos than a backup breaking your QBs jaw. Douglas did what he had to do, attempt to turn public perception and the locker room away from the fact that he wants to tear this roster apart. If you want negative Ecco chamber reactions go read a message board or a beat writer. No coach or GM is going to publicly say anything remotely real unless they know they are already in the way out the door.
Your interpretation is different than mine here. Douglas said there were no offers close to the internal valuation the organization has on some of the players mentioned in the rumor leaks. Gase, in the quote above, is saying he would expect Douglas to approach him with legitimate trade offers...meaning inbound offers which match the internal valuation of the player. In this case, Douglas said they didn't field any legitimate offers for the leaked players and thus there was nothing to bring to Gase.
Eh I think you're reading into it a little much. Gase HAS to act like he has no idea his best two players and most influential in the locker room may have been available. He's already sort of on thin ice with players it seems. The GM also doesn't have to interact with players on a daily basis and convince them they have a good game plan. Reminds me of the scene in Moneyball when Brad Pitt makes Jonah Hill tell the dude he just traded him. The front office needs to be able to cut ties without emotional attachment whereas the coach has to be a hero in their eyes. Still, it seems like there's disconnect all over this organization.
We’ve already gotten our pound of flesh with what Chris Johnson said before the Jacksonville game. If they lose to Miami this week, which I think is likely, then Gase will be shoved out the door as fast as possible.
This...Joe Douglas signed a 6 year deal, gase a 3 year deal. Gase, for all accounts, seem to have been at least partially responsible for douglas being here, but douglas had turned down the jets offers and the jets went all in and offered him 6 years (which is a lot). Joe Douglas is not going to end up on the hot seat because a friend of his is head coach. The product on the field is indefensible and regardless of the injuries, there are plenty of teams in the NFL that are competitive with back up QB's, and o-linemen. When push comes to shove, Douglas will gladly tell CJ that Gase is not the HC for the future IMO, we've reached a point where some may be duped into thinking this team is trending upwards if we beat the sorry ass dolphins, bengals and redskins. To me, it's an absolute embarrassment that our victories would come against those teams and be viewed as a success. For the lack of talent we have, Gase has not elevated the talent and head coaches are supposed to elevate the talent they have and scheme to bring out the best in players.
to be fair, it’s hard to “elevate the talent” of anyone when the QB comes back from being out a month and just chucks the football up for grabs all game you also seem pretty set in your ways that it won’t matter what happens In the Dolphins, Bengals, redskins games so even if Gase elevates the talent in those games it’s not gonna matter to you
Another thing I agree with you on. Sky must be falling. He said all the right things for me, checked off the boxes you want checked off, and if you look deeper into it all, you start to see a little glimmer of hope. He's not trying to reinvent the wheel at GM and is clearly using his knowledge from some of the best GM's in this league to his advantage so far. It's actually a good feeling but I'm still hesitant untill I see his overall approach and draft acumen. I am somewhat hopeful with, Douglas. We shall see, time will tell.
I doubt it. GMs probably have tons of discussions on trades. Even if Douglas had a few semi-serious talks, doesn't mean anything. Gase would likely be involved if something was getting close to being done. Likely nothing was. Dallas probably put out BS rumors on Adams in order to sway the Jets to either make a move or to make him want to leave. Of course, I don't disagree that even if something was really close and talks fell apart, Gase wouldn't be stupid enough to say so.
Right. And whether the playcalling is good or bad it becomes difficult for a coach to call a game when Sam did what he did in throwing the ball to Vycint Smith against the Jags. I really have to go back and watch the All 22 to see what the issues are beyond the offensive line. I'm finding it harder and harder to believe that there aren't quick hitting throws built in to every play. Whether Gase is whispering in Sam's ear to get big plays or not I don't know.
You can like Douglas without completely drinking the Kool-Aid aid...that presser was a whole lotta nothing.
Jamal Adams would be wise to listen to Belichek's dictum: Do your job! You're a great safety. Just stick to that Last offseason Jamal tried to play GM recruiting superstars, some of which are now teammates. If he's mature he'll see that Le'Veaon can't do it by himself. We need a critical mass of talent I like what Joe had to say: everyone needs to own this mes And in terms of credibility, I believe him. He denied there was a firesale. If there were, at least Jamal and Robbie would be wearing different uniforms today
No chance we lose to Miami or no chance we fire Gase if we lose to Miami? The second part is just unbridled hope that this team realizes the mistake they made with Gase sooner rather than later.
