Amen... you took the time to create the thread (which could have gone in any other), why not take the time to look it up.
Prior to Jamal Adams, Sam Darnold and Quinnen Williams, .here you go lazybones: 2016 — Darron Lee (traded) 2015 — Leo Williams (traded) 2014 — Calvin Pryor (traded) 2013 — Dee Milliner (cut) 2013 — Sheldon Richardson (traded) 2012 — Quinton Coples (cut) 2011 — Mo Wilkerson (cut) 2010 — Kyle Wilson (cut) 2009 - Mark Sanchez (cut) 2008 - Vernon Gholston (cut)
At least we're trying to get something back for our recent castoffs rather than just cutting them. I really thought Darron Lee was starting to get it. I bet these two dopes feel stupid for trading him away only to see our entire linebacking Corp get decimated by injuries.
I saw him playing for KC on TV recently and it appeared to me that he was still as ineffective against the run as he was as a Jet. KC ranked 24th in total defense.
He was invisible to me as well when I've seen them play. But it's tough to be effective when the defensive line is driven 3 yards back instantly. Maybe he just does suck :shouldershrug:
I think most if not all of us know the track record. Anyone who participates here has discussed all of these guys ad nauseam. So, a giant YAWN from me. I have a Jets fan friend who revels in the "crap" like this. He sent me that same list the moment Leo got dealt. I replied back "I KNOW THE LIST" Jesus, I'm not bright-sider fan, but I don't get it sometimes.
The worst part is counting 5 defensive line and a 6th including Quinnen Williams. The 49ers have a comparable first round history in drafting defensive lineman. Arik Armstead, DeForest Buckner, Solomon Thomas, Nick Bosa.. 3/4 are really good players and their past rush and Nascar type Giants packages are unreal in obvious passing situations. The Rams did it some years back with Adam Carriker, Robert Quinn, Brockers and Chris Long. Quinn was the only star and the teams weren't very good but they did get that edge rusher in Quinn. We haven't realistically hit on anyone of them. Wilkerson was probably the best and he just disappeared after he got paid. Richardson is still a good player but that's about it and has been long gone.
Some stats that convey how bad we've done in the draft. Stats for 1st and 2nd round picks from 2009-2019 15/19 are no longer with team. (read that again and let it settle in) 11/19 are wasted picks that did nothing for us and got nothing in return Stats for 1st-4th round picks from 2009-2019 30/40 are no longer with the team 25/36 are wasted picks that did nothing for us and got nothing in return (this does not assess Quinnen, Wesco, Edoga, or Shepard) Year Rnd Pick Player good/bad pick Still With Team 2019 1 3 Quinnen Williams good y 2019 3 68 Jachai Polite bad n 2019 3 92 Chuma Edoga bad y 2019 4 121 Trevon Wesco bad y 2018 1 3 Sam Darnold good y 2018 3 72 Nathan Shepherd bad n 2018 4 107 Chris Herndon good y 2017 1 6 Jamal Adams good y 2017 2 39 Marcus Maye good y 2017 3 79 ArDarius Stewart bad n 2017 4 141 Chad Hansen bad n 2016 1 20 Darron Lee bad n 2016 2 51 Christian Hackenberg bad n 2016 3 83 Jordan Jenkins good y 2016 4 118 Juston Burris bad n 2015 1 6 Leonard Williams good n 2015 2 37 Devin Smith bad n 2015 3 82 Lorenzo Mauldin bad n 2015 4 103 Bryce Petty bad n 2014 1 18 Calvin Pryor bad n 2014 2 49 Jace Amaro bad n 2014 3 80 Dexter McDougle bad n 2014 4 104 Jalen Saunders bad n 2014 4 115 Shaquelle Evans bad n 2014 4 137 Dakota Dozier bad n 2013 1 9 Dee Milliner bad n 2013 1 13 Sheldon Richardson good n 2013 2 39 Geno Smith bad n 2013 3 72 Brian Winters bad y 2012 1 16 Quinton Coples bad n 2012 2 43 Stephen Hill bad n 2012 3 77 Demario Davis good n 2011 1 30 Muhammad Wilkerson good n 2011 3 94 Kenrick Ellis bad n 2011 4 126 Bilal Powell good y 2010 1 29 Kyle Wilson bad n 2010 2 61 Vlad Ducasse bad n 2010 4 112 Joe McKnight good n 2009 1 5 Mark Sanchez good n 2009 3 65 Shonn Greene good n
Jace Amaro's my favorite. A team starved for wide receivers for ten years in the deepest wide receiver class in that same ten year period and we take the slowest non-blocking tightend in the entire class. What's even more evident with these picks is the lack of these players even still being in the league. Did Shaq Evans ever even get activated? Dexter McDougle effectively missed two years of college with injuries and we drafted him the year after taking Milliner, an equally injury prone corner. Stephen Hill - 40 something receptions from a triple option offense over Alshon Jeffery. Hackenberg over literally anyone else in the draft. Played OK his freshman year, terrible the rest of his years in college and we thought he was the next Tom Brady. It's all ugly and sometimes remarkable we've squeezed even one winning season out of this decade. Which of course didn't result in a playoff births.
Another tidbit that makes me mad ONE Offensive Lineman in the first two rounds in 11 years. Whose name was Vlad Ducasse. Macagnan and Idzik should face murder charges, for what this is doing to Darnold.
And of COURSE we didn't develop him at all. Ducasse wasn't a world beater or a great player but he did have 46 NFL starts when he left us over 5 seasons.
Nathan Shepherd was recently reinstated from his 6 game suspension. I didn't even know he was still a part of this team
