It might save Sam from being ruined. Surely another HC will alter the offensive system, bring the rollout plays that Sam had last year, use more max protect and 2-TE plays.
Not at my house - 6400' elevation - we got about 4", but higher up they got a foot or more. Temps are now supposed to dive to single digits. Winter's here! But you know, somehow, single digits here doesn't feel as cold as 28 degrees walking down Madison Ave. I think it's the much lower humidity here - makes the cold and hot temps more bearable. I don't miss NY weather!
TBF, we don't know what Douglas is or isn't saying. We didn't know what Gase was saying about Macc and then look what happened. My guess is that Douglass is quietly evaluating and getting ready to make his mark felt when FA and the Draft seasons hit.
None of those guys are the talent that Chase Young is projected to be nor were in impact player like an edge.
The two most important positions in football are the QB and the guy getting after the QB. You don't pass on an edge rusher like Young.
you do if you can grab a franchise left tackle to protect his blind side. add more centers, guards and tackles in later rounds so you can also run the ball to give your defense plenty of rest time off the field.
The whole thing is it is hard to build a good offensive line, If you are lucky you might hit on 2 players a yr either through the draft or free agency. Teams with good o-lines have been building them for yrs,it does not happen over night. We have nothing to build on as far as the o-line. It might take us 3 to 4 yrs to build a strong o-line Sam w2ill be done by then if not before.
If they got a quality LT and another piece, Darnold has enough mobility to make it solid. I believe a lot of our OL woes are due to the blocking scheme we have in place. How in the hell does the OL that gave up 37 sacks in all of 2018, give up 37 in 7 games.
Nonsense. When your QB is getting killed, has a subpar group of receivers to throw to, your CBs suck and you have other holes and needs, you most certainly can and do! Did you notice that following his 4th sack (a strip sack), he made NO effort to block for his teammate returning the ball. In fact he jumped out of the way rather than throwing a block. I wouldn't want a football player like that when I could possibly add 3 very good players with the picks I got instead of taking Young.
With a better blocking scheme, using more rollouts and max protect, and adding at a minimum an LT, C and LG, I think Sam will be OK. You can't just "Well Sam will be done before we can fix the OL, so we might as well not try" and not try to fix the OL.

Hopefully, that's true, but it shouldn't be just if they lose. Miami is tanking. If the Jets don't win convincingly and Sam play well, then Gase should still go imo.
I honestly think we are going to lose next Sunday. The remaining players from the Gase era in Miami are going to want to prove a point, and although Miami isn't winning, they're playing with effort and want to win. This Jets team is dead. Also, Vegas has us at only 4.5 point favorites and I think the line is going to drop more.
Go back and read their pre-draft hype. MAYBE, just MAYBE Young is the 2nd Coming of Mean Joe Green, but maybe not. And maybe if he is, he gets hurt and then his production falls off. At this point, there can be NO OTHER choice at the top of the draft board than OL (unless they decide that Sam isn't the FQB they've been seeking for 50 years - and I don't think they've decided that no matter what happens this season).
Could say the same thing about any top OL prospect. I don't think this team could go wrong with taking a guy like Andrew Thomas or Chase Young, but they cannot and should not move down from their top position if they can land one of those guys. Obviously if we move down 1 or 2 spots for a team that wants a QB then that's fine, but we're not moving down 10 spots this year.
