Is anyone on the oline salvageable?

Seems like everyone is awful and they take their turns getting destroyed

Sam was sacked 8 times and Minshew 2 times.

  3. Goodie..more OL fixation from Jets fans.

The most frustrating part? This time around its mostly justified.. i almost want this OL to set records for ineptness just as an F You to Macagnan.

Good news? I think Douglas will grant the wish & go heavy OL this offseason.

Bad News? We’ll be passing on some of the best WR/skill talent in 5 years. Skill is STILL an issue with this team just for whatever reason fans & the team always want to go OL or defense instead.

So now, As a GM of this massive shit show, his responsibility was first and foremost to personally look at the MRI CD given to him by the doctors, confirm that the MRI was proper, that he indeed had a torn shoulder and that the tape was not the wrong one. He should focus on that first, instead of trying to fix this disaster of an organization, with years of incompetent personnel moves, even more incompetent HC/OC given to us by idiot owners with zero clue to what it takes to build a winner. Yeh, glad we have the right focus here.

We're going to be choosing very early in the draft. Priority #1 is finding out what Darnold truly is.

That's the thing. Our OL is so bad that it has to be addressed next offseason. The OL available as FA's usually aren't top tier players as they get tagged and/or extended, which means the draft is how it'll happen. I'm 100% with you on the team not valuing skill players, but without a serviceable OL, skill players can't do much.

Lewis is ok and I still wouldn’t dismiss edoga at right tackle.

Edoga has been out right brutal. At either tackle he’s been getting blown up every game. Lewis is meh back up for. A game here or there. We need 5 starters no matter ho

Makes zero sense when you can’t pass to them on your face in the dirt

    1. Get your quarterback
    2. Protect your quarterback
    3. Knock down the other team's quarterback

We got our QB a year and a half ago and still haven't done anything with #2 and #3.

Build the damn line and stop trying to fit "man blockers" into a zone blocking scheme. Be one or the other and get the players that fit the scheme.

  11. Yes the OL is dreadful & you are partially correct.

But we are still rebuilding & therefore prioritizing the long term.A #1 caliber WR is a massive long term need that we have regardless of the OL & the short term.we fix the OL we still have a need at WR that is not easily resolved. In fact OL is much easier to address.

Additionally the strength of this OL draft class is day 2! Its completely plausible that we get 2 starting quality OL cornerstones in rounds 2 & 3. And oh by the way..those OL will take time to gel/develop.Blindly Throwing a bunch of draft picks at the problem will not fix it overnight & by completely ignoring the plethora of other holes on this roster it likely stands to set us back at least another season.

My point is OL is at the very top of our priority list...but its a list at least 4 crater sized holes deep

Yeah no shit captain obvious. The Jets pressured him quite a bit and could of had a few more if they could bring him down. Minshaw is pretty elusive and feels the pressure well for being a rookie.

Sadly this was a throw away year.... firing magic mike was the right move but should have been done BEFORE the draft and FA!! Joe Douglas never had any chance to fix the mess that was left behind.. some of these post are unreal!!! Sam is under Siege!!... before he can even set up the Pocket is falling apart!!.. My God how many free runners to Sam do we have to see??... theres no chance to develop him ...not like this.... if we had Sam instead of Sanchez in 09-10 we at least gone to one SB with that O-line remember.. we had 3 pro bowlers on that unit....we had two of the Worst GM’s in football..... Unreal after sam the last Offensive player the team draft in the first round was sanchez!! Think about for a min!! .....How is that possible?but true....our only hope for this year is sam not getting Seriously hurt..... and hoping Douglas can fix this shit show...

Edoga doesn't ever look ready. He needs a coach to change his stance. He stands like no offensive lineman I've ever seen in like a constipated crouch with his kick leg nearly even with his other leg in obvious passing situations.

    He's a guard at best.

We need two tackles and a road grading center. The guards we can mess with Winters and Lewis again just for the sake of not being able to replace the entire line in an off-season. We really may have to go tackle-center (Wisconsin center in the second) in the first two picks.

To @KurtTheJetsFan point it definitely does suck. Because this draft is loaded in the first two rounds at receiver. Especially at the top with Jeudy who we may have to pass on unless we sign someone like Castonzo in free agency.

Hey genius he was sacked 8 times. Tell me how any first tier QB can perform under those circumstances?

I would take Jeudy and spend the rest of our assets (FA/trade/rest of draft) on the oline

CB and pass rusher I guess will have to wait unless we hit on a gem

    This team is screwed

The frustrating thing is that we sit here and watch our absolute premium picks on the DL either be so terrible they aren't even in the league anymore (Coples etc) or contribute close to nothing (Leo, Q so far, Richardson not even on the team etc) while on the same team, with the same system we are watching relatively unheralded guys like Phillips, Henry Anderson and others do rather well.

Its hard to not draw the conclusion that spending premium picks on DL guys is a horrendous misallocation of resources. If you can get by with the Henry Andersons of the world that you sledge up cheap while our team not only doesn't have, but is getting mauled weekly by the top skill Julio Jones, or OBJ type guys that COULD have been purchased with these #3 and #6 overall type picks.

    Just very frustrating.

Your post made a ton of sense until you brought up wide receivers ....RBs and WRs don't make a ton of difference unless your team is ready to win...we would be in the same spot except we would have a flashy WR making headlines and that you can draft in fantasy....example Bell is averaging 40 yards a game.

Realistically, changing all 5 probably is not going to happen even if it should. So, if this is right, I think you have to get 2 in the draft & 1 in FA or trade. They very well may have to go OL in first 2 round. Passing over a legit # 1 WR will be terrible but necessary.

    Agree

this is the best analysis of the day

And why we need to trade away everyone we can NOW

    we need picks

they might bust out, but we need to give Douglas the picks

actually he needs to give himself the picks.

Douglas does look fat to me btw
