hahaha. This is just long term planning in which any gm should be able to do. Desire for quick results messes that up. Ego. Pressure. Job Security. Those things don't create a strategic vision.
I have a feeling that we might have to wait until 2021 to become a contender. Just way too many holes on the roster to address in one offseason. The jury is out on Douglas, but it's clear that he values the trenches and players who hate to lose.
I don't think they're fine with losing. I think they just have no idea what they're doing and they're willing to bring in anyone to fix it. They tell in love with Idzik's money ball approach that seemed to work in Seattle (even though he wasn't making those picks whatsoever). Right idea, terrible execution. Maccagnan had a good resume and he was a complete zero. No idea what his scouting department saw in players like ArDarius Stewart and Chad Hansen and friends. They tried hiring Casserly and the other idiot as a consultant who had both been removed from the NFL from a decade to hire Bowles and Maccagnan. Gase sold them a bill of goods but at the very least he had them fire Maccagnan. We have no culture or identity at the top. The Johnson's don't know a thing about building it. Maybe Joe Douglas knows how to do that? Maybe he doesn't. But at some point we're going to need to get the right guy in here from the top down. Coughlin would've been a nice VP of football operations years ago to stick it to the Giants he was pissed at.
I have tried my mother fucking hardest to be positive with this team. They make it so fucking hard to do so. After gaining a ton of momentum by stopping jax in the 1st quarter. Jets get the ball on the 50 up by one. Then fucking momentum killing, soul crushing int !!!!!!!!!! Two plays later they give up 70 fucking yard TD! WTF!!!!! Sorry for the word vomit. I feel better now. I take that back I just saw that they somehow gave up another FG before the half FUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I think I stated it somewhere in here at the time, but my first reaction when the big uniform reveal was made was that to me, it looked too much like the Kotite era Jets uniforms. NOW IT HAS COME TO PASS. Ugh. Parcells changed away from that so the team would look more like they did when they won a championship. And now we're back.
My reaction to the big uniform reveal was dread. Anytime...every time for that matter...the Jets make some sort of claim to greatness they royally shit the bed. Recently it was Sam... "It's really up to us how many points we score, I think. I think we're capable of so many points. With our offensive line, too, the way they played last game, with the way we've been running the ball and the way they've been protecting, sky's the limit for us." A few days later we get shut out... at home... by the Patriots.
Here is the real problem..... Our owner interaction with a fan at Jax who just told him he drove 9 hours to support the team. Chris's response.. Hopefully the team will show up this week......
WOW - this is actually kind of telling. You can go in two directions with this comment.....the first would be my first thought which is that CJ is just as clueless as described on here. Trying to play friendly with the fans but “hoping the team shows up” is just a mind numbing comment from the owner. However, the second thought would be this was a back handed slap at Gase and that he may actually regret the hire and is getting fed up himself. This year really is turning into a soap opera.
