Darnold was completely destroyed last night. He was lost and scared. Honestly, he should've been benched. The scariest part is that that game is now on film - a clear blueprint on how to confuse and beat him. yikes

It's fucking insane already. Sam has had some terrible games, some really amazing games, and a bunch of games in between. Way too early to make a decision on this, especially with Gase and his coffee runner Loggains.
This game was beyond terrible. Sanchez and Geno were terrible. This game was Peterman. Having said that, while it's too early to make a decision on Sam, it isn't too early to make a decision on Gase and Loggains. I've said this time and time again, but the only reason Gase's record isn't worse than Bowles's is that when in Miami, he went 20-4 in one score games. That was pure luck. He's a terrible coach and needs to go now, so we can figure out the rest of the way whether we need to draft a new QB.
Much of it depends on how he looks for the rest of the season. Darnold looked shell shocked and completely out of his element yesterday. When you take what he did versus what he did for the pats, it's opposite end of the spectrum kinda stuff. Also, his mechanics have deteriorated and no one wants to acknowledge it but Jeremy Bates did one of a hell last season with Darnold's mechanics. Need to see consistent improvement from Darnold rest of the season

Hopefully, Douglas will take care of fixing the OL. As to whom will coach Sam or the team, I haven't a clue at this point, but there has to be someone out there that is capable. Sam may be too soft, but I really don't think so. He wanted to play even with mono. I think he's smart. He's learned a lot quickly and is still only 22. He didn't just sit there while sick, but he studied protections and tried to get better. He still has some work to do in that area, but Bellicheat is a master of D. It's not surprising that Bellicheat has a great D this year. What is surprising to me is that he has had such a mediocre D for years and relied pretty much on Brady and the offense with mediocre WRs.

Or the coaching. Or the pass rushers. Or the discipline. Or the anything else the Patriots have that the other 31 teams in the NFL don't that has lead to their dominance over the last 20 years.
20-4 in one score games is not luck. 4-0 maybe, 6-2, sure...small samples but you don't have 20 games, over 1 whole season worth of luck. The NFL in general has a ton of one score games, so essentially that would mean every coach who wins has luck, which wouldn't make any sense
Goff with McVay coaching him put up a QB rating of 57.9 against the Pats in the SB last year. The Pats D is arguably better this year.
My answer: NO. I think Sam will be a very good to great QB of the future provided the Jets get some decent offensive talent around him. I didn't see all of last night's game but two critical Jet mistakes were made before Sam threw his first pick. 1. Marcus Maye missed a tackle on third down that would have halted the Pats first drive. 2. Demaryius Thomas dropped an easy pass that would have given the Jets a first down on their first drive. It might have turned out differently if it weren't for those plays.
