Will they open their wallets and get some pitching? We'll see. This offseason will go a long way toward determining whether they're on the path to being the 90s Yankees (possible dynasty) or the 90s Braves (hang around the playoffs long enough to maybe cash in ONE title if the stars align).

Oh well, at least I have the Jets/Knicks/Devils to look forwa....

Verlander 0-6 in World Series, enjoy that in your rocking chair!
Brady 0-2 vs Giants and Eli, in Super Bowls, enjoy that in your rocking chair!

    9/$324M. Oh my fucking god.....

Well, they did it. I had my doubts, but they opened the vault and got their man. Please dear god let them win the WS 2-3 times in the next 5 or so years because the back end of this deal will suck hard.

He's only 29, he could at least be serviceable in the last years. I don' think he has a significant injury history, right?

1 WS is all they need to justify this. Cole was a 3.64 ERA guy in Pitt and 2.68 in Houston. He needs to be better than the 2.68 guy. This is an absurd payday.

Nothing that would set off any alarm bells. To be clear, I LOVE this deal, even if it won't be so hot in his age 36-37-38 years, unless as you say he's serviceable at the end (is hoping for 5-6 years of ace + 3 years of, say, '16-'18 CC too greedy? ;) ). We were never going to get prime age Cole w/o taking on some of his twilight years.

Unless he opts out. I don't even want to think about how insane the market would be if he's still dominant enough at age 34 to consider walking away from the final 4/144M.

We've got all the pieces now. Last year showed us that injuries can happen to anyone anytime (over and over and over...), so nothing is certain, but on paper we've got a dominant offense, elite pen, and now the front of our rotation can go toe-to-toe with anyone in MLB. And as a bonus, this addition subtracts from the Astros. Lock and load.

I agree in principle...but with this core and now a rotation to match we really ought to win more than one, especially if he gives us 3-5 years of 2.68.

The Yanks needed a workhorse ace and got one. These types of pitchers don't come cheap. The back end will likely not be pretty, but if they win a WS or two, it'll be well worth it.

The Yankees won 103 games without him.

Now Boonie's got a bunch o' savages on the mound.

even though DD (victim of a 'numbers' game) will be missed......but the $17 mil saved helps with the Cole deal...

    Sevy with TJ surgery.

It’s such a shame the yanks don’t have the resources to diagnose these things early.

I’m thinking about starting a gofundme page for the training staff

Guess it was too much to ask to at least let us get thru spring training before starting this injury shit again. JFC imagine if we hadn't gotten Cole. Also probably a good thing we held on to Happ, we're gonna need the depth.

Has the bat in the hat logo ever actually appeared on the uniforms? I don't think it has.
