Actually in 1986 Jets were 10-1 and lost their last 5 and still made the playoffs. So your scenario is not exactly the opposite, but who's paying attention anyway? Why take the risk of rushing Sam back in a lost season? Oh yeah, because the team and some desperate fans are still delusional enough to think they can make the playoffs. Keep Sam out and tank for a high pick, which will probably end up being garbage anyway. Whichever way you go with this team, it's a no-win situation.
Playing football is his JOB. It's what he does. Playing, giving 100% in a so called lost season would endear him more to his teammates and the fans. One of the reasons why I love Jamal Adams guy gives 100% no matter what even if it's a blowout he's out there playing his heart out. Darnold taking his sweet time to come back in a lost season, to save his behind would cause me to begin to detest him. I'm VERY unhappy that he's not in the lineup again, that once again the Jets are in a QB mess. I was led to believe when he was drafted that days like this were a thing of the past.
I know you’re just here to troll so you don’t have logical answers, but what is it that you don’t understand about Sam not being medically cleared? It’s not a football decision. It’s a “we are doctors and we have deemed that Sam is at risk of death if he plays” decision. I've given up on it ever coming. At this point, the Jets have really just morphed into a really funny weekly comedy show. No writer could make up the stupid stuff that this franchise does on a consistent basis.

Some of the most garbage teams in the nfl fill the jets second half schedule. The jets should win a ton of games in the second half. But when they do, jets fans will inevitably say DARNOLD!!! when in reality it’s the schedule. Would have been nice to see Sam against the better teams. Can’t wait for the OMG SAM after they start winning.
