Rex Ryan: I would take Daniel Jones over Sam Darnold

Discussion in 'New York Jets' started by dmw, Sep 23, 2019.

  1. Not excusing blame at all. Hes never going to have good mechanics..its managing that fact im concerned with. The key for him is simply releasing from center w a good base it sets everything else up.thats mostky on him..BUT..

Brees needed a clean windshield to play to his strengths, big ben needed an OL who could stay on their feet & block off schedule on extended plays.Sam needs a clean release from the pocket IE OL who can block the surge.Right now OL isnt helping

Rex Ryan wouldn't know good quarterbacking if it smacked him upside the head.

    FYI

rex lobbied idzik to trade up for OBJ. instead we took calvin pryor 4 picks later. this was the famous idzik 12. we would have been better off trading all 12 picks for OBJ then what we wound up with

rex lobbied MT (I think it was MT) to draft russel wilson in the 2nd round of the 2012 draft. MT felt it was a reach and wanted to wait until the 3rd round and instead took bust Stephen hill in the 2nd. seattle took wilson 2 picks before us in the 3rd round so we settled for demario davis. Worse off we traded with seattle in the 2nd to move up for Stephen hill, seattle used our pick that round after trading back for bobby wagner

Now even a broken clock is right twice a day, but imagine if rex had wilson in year 3 and OBJ as a rookie on offense to go along with the defense we had going into the 2014 season? he probably wouldn't have been fired. we would have been good and would have never hired bowles. and FWIW rex is the bets coach the jets have had over the past 20+ years outside of the small parcells pitstop

That was Bradway that was supposedly "pounding the table" for Wilson

Saying shit like is how Rex makes his boat payments now that he doesn’t actually have a real job in the industry.

deep down I'm sure Rex knew Sanchez wasn't so good. He was trying to build up his confidence, and wouldn't obviously state what everyone else was thinking at the time.

Rex signed a 2 year deal with ESPN. His contract is up this year. He is making these hot takes to try and get another contract. Last year he was taking it easy because he thought he could land another job.

Pretty easy to crown the Giants QB as the best in NY when he was fired from the other 2 NY teams...

    http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap10...wilson-coveted-by-one-new-york-jets-executive

"During last year's draft season, Bradway's view on the incoming quarterback class was clear. He wanted Russell Wilson. Bradway talked about Wilson so much that the Wisconsin product was called "Russell Bradway" inside the Jets' building, defensive coordinator Mike Pettine told The Star-Ledger."

Maybe if Idzik wasn't a colossal putz we'd have a solid group of 28-30 year old vets leading our team...

fair enough, but just because TB lobbied for him, doesn't mean rex wasn't lobbying for him as well

For sure, the two aren't mutually exclusive. I just explicitly remembered seeing TB's name next to Wilson. Plus, I think Rex wanted Kaepernick as well so he liked that mobility factor.

It's a pretty well-known fact that you have to go full-retard to land one of those talking head sports analysts jobs, which even makes news anchors look intelligent and credible. The question is, was Rex always full-retard or is this a new found role for him?

I have no issue with Rex favoring Jones over Darnold, but the timing is awfully convenient. Maybe let’s see how we all feel after this season is over and when we have more tape to assess Jones?

Perhaps Rex isn’t wrong. Darnold has had his moments, but nothing quite like Jones’ debut yesterday.

Sources? I've never seen/heard anything about Rex lobbying for those players. Even if Rex is the best coach the Jets have had over the last 20+ years (which I disagree with, Mangini was better) isn't saying anything when we've had a bunch of incompetent boobs for HCs.

He should've made this ahem 'bold proclamation' back on draft day or before the Giants win against Tampa Bay then it would've been more credible.

    A total fraud.

All he's doing now is jumping on the Giants bandwagon/taking a dump on the Jets while they're down.

Head coach Herman Edwards has been the most successful Jets HC since 2000 I believe. The Jets won a division title, made the playoffs 3/5 years here.
