If they're going to fire him in season, the bye week is usually the best opportunity. Should the Jets cut bait now or stick it out and continue to allow him to run the team?

the Jets would be a joke if they fired a guy after only 3 games. Good luck with the next coaching search as well

They aren't already? Keeping Gase around isn't going to help change that narrative IMO.

No way, I really dislike the Gase hire and think that ultimately he will be fired, but after 3 games, the entire league will laugh at us and we would further cement a lack of credibility as an organization (even though we don't have any to begin with).

I will say though that if Gase was fired after this season - I'd be all for it

the Jets are a joke because overreacting and firing a guy after 3 games, is something absolutely no one would be surprised to see the Jets do.

Omg when will it end? No they shouldn’t fire the coach after 3 weeks in which he has had 3 different starting QBs.

Unless Darnold is out all season, you have to give Gase a chance with Darnold healthy. I'd consider a midseason firing around Week 10-12, but firing Gase now would be an extra big turnoff for potential candidates.

Genuinely made me laugh.. well done. The over reacting is at an all time high.

I really hate what I've seen from Gase but the fact of the matter is the quickest way for us to turn things around is with him not starting all over. With that said if things don't turn around I'd be for letting Douglas hire someone after the season but I just don't see that happening.
So for now, as with every year of our Jets fandom, let's wait and see what happens!

I don't see any real difference between firing him now and firing him in 8 weeks except that firing him now keeps him from fucking things up for 8 more weeks.

One is you never know, the offense might be good with a healthy Darnold. But if you don't buy that, two is firing Gase without giving him a fair shot to fail is a red flag for future candidates.

As for the 8 weeks, it doesn't matter that much. Playoffs aren't happening regardless of what we do, and if 8 additional weeks of Gase runs Darnold, then Darnold was never the guy anyway.

My point is that firing him before the end of the season is a red flag anyway, so just get it over with. I know I'm in the minority, but I've seen enough. And in any case there are only 32 jobs like this, so while we might scare away the cream of the crop, I doubt they have us on their short list anyway. Bottom line: Why hold onto a rotten apple any longer than you have to?

I think it's a significantly bigger flag not only to fire a first year coach midseason but to do so without giving him a chance to coach the starting QB. If I were a candidate, and the Jets just fired Gase midseason, I'd figure I'm not Gase so that won't happen to me. But if Gase doesn't even get a real shot, then I'd be much more wary about taking the job.

Nah the stupidity of Jets fans will not end when Gase is fired unfortunately. They’ll just move on to the next coach that loses some games.

No. Because a three game sample, particularly with a large number of significant absences, is insufficient to grade a performance and potential.

But also, yes, because of abject failure to accept responsibilities that are those of the head coach. If there is any indication that Gase has embarked down the path that ended his tenure in Miami of being combative with people throughout the organization he should be gone.
