Year after year I get excited about my beloved NY Jets only to have my hopes dashed before the season really gets started. This shit doesn't happen to any other team but the Jets. I truly believe the team is cursed ever since Broadway Joe guaranteed a win in SB#3. He sold his soul to the devil. I'm still a diehard fan, just extremely frustrated by the lack of commitment from the current owners. The Johnsons have wreaked this team with poor decisions. I'm not saying Gase and Williams were a bad hire, but this shit is getting old. I hope that one year they will win a SB but only after the curse is lifted. What that will be, maybe Joe jumps off the wagon, gets drunk and tells Suzy he wants to screw her...I don't know. Just not a happy fan right now.
I was just thinking, I wish someone else would start a thread saying almost the exact same thing as 7 other threads that are currently active.
Oh I get it! You made the J...E...T...S chant into a "cursed" chant! It's so original it deserved its own thread! Have you ever thought about writing for showbiz or commercials? Honestly, you're ability to develop such a unique idea is truly a talent!
Initially hiring Gase made sense. Then the Johnsons went ahead and fired MacCagnan in effect handing total control to Gase. That changed everything. Even with that action there was still a chance it could work but it was dependant on winning right away. The crushing collapse against Buffalo in week 1, the injuries is like a perfect storm and we see what we're seeing.
Oh please explain to me how giving Gase "total control" changed everything? How did those 23 days change everything? I am dying to hear this one
What's a fasho? And why is it negativity vibes and not positivity vibes? I need answers to these $17 million dollar questions.
I’ll say this..The fact that we manage to get: A. Highly sought after coaching candidates, and they flame out for the same reasons B. Recently the BPA has inexplicabley fallen to us, and while for a few games here and there, he seems to cap out around slightly above average C. We never..EVER have a pass rush D. All this after routinely changing FO staffs E. Try all sorts of methods to no success-search firms etc Seems a little too coincidental
It doesn't have to be a curse, just an "arrangement". Why would the NFL want two successful franchises in the same market anyway? Unless it's two teams that are new to a market which had a long dry spell without a team, such as Los Angeles. Besides, it could be worse. You could be a fan of Detroit or Buffalo, who have both been perennial doormats for decades. On second thought, scratch that, the Lions and Bills are both undefeated while the Jets are winless with a historically inept offense (one offensive TD in first three games). Just when you thought there was no further bottom to be reached, the Jets defy physics and continue to descend.
A. Since when was Gase a highly sought after coaching candidate? Bowles maybe, but he wasn't that highly sought after. B. Interior defensive linemen don't tend to be game breakers unless they're named Watt or Donald. That's why they fall to us. C. Maybe we should draft a pass rusher then. And one not named Jachai Polite. D. Maybe we should hire better FO staffs. E. Maybe hire a well-respected football guy and let him run the team instead of fucking around with search firms and dual power structures.
Nothing to do with a curse, everything to do with having the right ownership. Ownership that is savvy enough to put at the helm an NFL experienced leader, and let him select the HC based on his depth and breath of knowledge. The selection by a committee of dinosaurs does not cut it. Ironically Chris selected Gase, and to a large extent Gase selected Douglas. One can reasonable argue that Gase greatest accomplishment to date has nothing to do with coaching, nor game planning, but by giving us a GM that has what it takes. If things don’t improve for Gase this year, the new GM might not be able to reciprocate the favor, and be the one to replace him with a winning HC. In the meantime, I will give Gase every benefit of a doubt.
well IMO the franchise is certainly in the top 5 of NFL teams that have had the worst luck or have been cursed as u say.
