Behind this offensive line and their "leave Kelvin Beachum one on one vs Myles Garrett" game plan. He would've been crushed and out for the season. Mono might have saved his season.

With Darnold we have a good chance of winning. Darnold's ability to extend plays negates and hides some of the line issues. Darnold's ability to extend plays makes it harder for a defense to play press coverage. Certainly Garrett is a beast but it is a completely different game with Darnold healthy and playing.

With Seiman and Faulk playing the Browns can play press at the line to stop short passes while going all out on the rush with no worry of the qb escaping or throwing any intermediate passes. They would have to give Darnold more respect.

I have been complaining about the Jets offensive line for years. Everyone thinks because the media tells them so, it is all about the QB. I would argue any successful QB has a good offensive line. The big reason Lamar Jackson is having a great year so far is the offensive line has protected him. Look at all the time Dak Prescott is having hence highest QB rating? Yes, Tom Brady also benefits from a good offensive line. Can someone name a QB that is having a great year with a shitty offensive line?

Until the Jets have a good offensive line their offense will be impotent!

I agree 100%, last time the Jets had a good O-line they managed to get to the AFC Championship game twice with Mark Sanchez at QB....... then we lost Alan Faneca, then came Wayne Fucking Hunter, the slow decline of Mangold and D'brick and we have never put the proper money or resources into trying to fix the mess it turned into, and haven't been to the playoffs since.

Sam would have adjusted some of those protections for sure. It would not have been the same as with Siemian or Falk. In fact, I am pretty sure the Jets would have won that game with Sam. Even with all the other injuries. Cleveland was terrible. The Jets offense just did not give them a chance. People are truly underestimating Sam's abilities. Again, he played with Mono Week 1. So this thread is basically asking "what would have happened if he did not have mono?" My answer: the Jets are (2-0).

We would've won. Luke Falk has never adjusted a blocking scheme in the NFL a day in his life. Sam Darnold has. Luke Falk has never thrown an NFL pass at the onset of that game. Sam Darnold has. The fact that we only lost by 20, 7 of which were on a ridiculous OBJ play, is incredibly impressive given the fact that they were given the ball at the 50 yard line every drive.

dam you are more reasonable then most of the jet fans here lol. enjoy the 50-0 win the pats are gonna drop on us this weekend. and yes all those points are true. no QB can be good with a shit o-line (david carr syndrome) but a decent QB can look like a star with a really good one.

Watson has a pretty bad o-line...but he also has hopkins. O-line has got to be a focus next year's draft.

Absolutely. Even if other positions cannot be fixed right away get on the OL first. The production will improve dramatically. If the Jets have an OL that can control the LOS the defense will be on the field less. Once OL is fixed concentrate on the back seven ...

We put the money into the o-line but it's one thing to get an aging o-linemen versus drafting one high, and keeping him as he develops into a stud. The jets stopped investing in their o-line via the draft, and now that they've found the promising young QB, they can't even protect him the way he should be because Macc and Idzik destroyed this team.

Joe Douglas is going to have to go all in on recreating this o-line next offseason.

If he gets sacked another 62 times this year, I am afraid he will be broken.

No question the line is terrible, but after 2 games no QB is having a great year.
Mariota is off to a good start, most sacked so far, Watson second looking good.
Recent years Rodgers, Wilson,Luck , Rivers , Ben all very successful. All behind weak o lines.
Even Brady in 2017 was playing behind a bad o line ( especially for NE). What was he 5 the or 6th most sacked in the league even with his fast release. Had one of his best seasons statistically . ironically lost the SB on a strip sack.
The elite QBs can compensate for a weak o line. Unfortunately our line is beyond weak and is going to need time to get before they hopefully become average to below avg.
