That was the problem. Way more so imho than even the kicker was that the Jets were just unable to protect Darnold enough. The kicker obviously didn't help but if you had to choose between having a missed fg and extra point on the one hand, or turning the ball over 4 times on the road including a pick six we definitely got the better end of that deal.

I guess I can't toot my horn for wanting to (slightly over)draft Jonah Williams since he didn't even hardly make it to training camp before breaking down but this critical area has been neglected too much for the last few years and it really showed yesterday.

The biggest dud was Woody Johnson and his retarded brother.

They put the Jets in a massive hole. Instead of firing toilet Bowles and Maccagnan both right after the season ended, the Johnsons waited until after after the draft so whoever came in next would be saddled with players from the outgoing regime (including their worthless 3rd round pick who didn't even make the team). Then, instead of hiring a GM, they hired a coach first. After this massive clusterfuck we ended up scrambling to put a team together at the 13th hour and ended up starting the season without a kicker. Even with everything else that went wrong yesterday, if our kicker doesn't miss a field goal and/or the extra point we win that game.

Gase was a dud, his play calling was awful. He made no adjustments and his dink and dunk offense reminded me of Paul Hackett. His time management was similarly awful, especially at the end of the game.

Our o-line was a dud, but that was easily predicted since our center (who calls the formations) just started learning our offense and o-lines often need to play together for a while before they play well as a unit.

    Studs were Mosley, Crowder, Bell.

You definitely did state your confidence. I don’t think it’s entirely misplaced as I also believe he’ll eventually get it together, but for now he’s a shit show until he proves he’s not.

There isn't a single Jets fan who will be rooting for Baker to beat us. But saying that shows where your head is.
