Even the best have mediocre games and its times like that the other phases of the game need to be better. If Vedvik doesn't miss a PAT or a FG we wouldn't be having a colossal meltdown about Sam. Guys like Brees, Brady, and Peyton have had mediocre games and won because the other units did their job (looking at you Peyton's 2nd SB)

The sky is not falling. First game in a new system against a great defense. It easy to miss throws when the line played like it did.

He didn't turn the ball over.

This thread is trolling. Darnold does need to get his head out of his ass thinking he's Brett Favre with those off balance throws. Especially at the end.

Sam looked pretty bad out there yesterday.

Maybe Dowell Loggains isn't the quarterback guru we all thought he was.

The problem isn't so much a mediocre game as it is that the offense looked exactly like it did during Gase's three years in Miami.

Even the old lady sitting next to me at the game yesterday asked me why he hadn't rolled out of the pocket.

A piss poor game plan on offense. Being that the Bills defense is so good, I get what he was trying to accomplish in the first half to mitigate mistakes, but no adequate adjustments were made at the half. The offensive line was an atrocity, they were playing on ice skates. Yesterday they played like 5 guys, instead of playing like 1 unit. Hopefully, another week of playing together will improve their play.

Bottom line, you have weeks to prepare for game 1, and they laid an egg. Gase appears to be a descendant of the Jeremy Bates school of offense. Those who watched Miami games last year know what I'm talking about. Anyone pinning this on Darnold is lost in the sauce.

Yeah, there just wasn’t any pass pro for him. He still managed to be like 7/11 on 3rd for first downs. The one throw to Anderson that was dropped was underthrown, the second was just too far, and the third was clearly underthrown (but should have been PI).

Robby didn't drop it. It was under thrown. Though Robby should've made an attempt to get the ball mid air

Sam will pick it up, no doubt. Another 3 feet on that sideline out to Robby late in the game and EVERYTHING written here today is different. I had a good vantage point in the stands for that play and Robby got behind the defender. It was there. It was almost an epic moment.

Sam made some very poor decisions, showed poor mechanics and hesitated multiple times. He had a bad game.

But pump the brakes on this thread.

The OP started a Darnold = Sanchez 2.0 thread last year after the first Dolphins game.

At the game it looked like it hit him right around the shoulder pad. I didn't get a chance to re-watch anything from this game and I probably won't, I'm probably going to lock this loss away and try to forget about it.

Fans are funny (some of them anyway). What I thought I saw was not one but two very talented young QB prospects who are likely the future of the NFCE. Not surprised that they underperform relative to some people's expectations.

The Miami loss week 2 of last year stung me more than this one yesterday. I was 50/50 going into this game and had no idea what to expect.
