Yeah, they kept 5 safeties, which is a bit of a surprise. I'm surprised (but not disappointed) that they cut Peake, but guess they were happy with Bellamy and Cannon as the gunners. I am disappointed that they cut Burnett, but hopefully, they can bring him back to the PS.
Hopefully they add at least one wr. Doctson from the skins is intriguing. Still young. I’m guessing there are around 5-6 players that won’t be on the team come next Sunday.
I am too. It was only one game but he really seemed to have a connection with Sam in the season finale against the pats last year.
Something tells me montegomery is going to be out there a lot as well to help supplement this. We did keep 4 RBs for a reason. I predict we see a lot of lineups with ty & leveon in the back field, with maybe one flexing out for matchup purposes.
I'm guessing Shepherd is retained because this will be last year for McClendon and Shepherd still has years on his rookie contract.
I wonder if Holmes will settle for the PS, or if he heads back to Australia. He has a big contract (by Australian levels, $7-$8 million per season) waiting for him there if he does.
I dunno ... "He bombed the scouting combine, showing up at 258 pounds (more than 20 above his playing weight), running a slow 40-yard dash (4.84 seconds), skipping the rest of the drills because of a hamstring injury and telling the media that certain teams "bashed" him in private interviews. At his pro day, Polite injured his other hamstring and failed to break 5.0 seconds in the 40-yard dash (5.04 by the Jets' time). After the draft, two scouts, representing two different teams, told ESPN there were questions about his work ethic and commitment to football."
Not loving how thin we left our receiver corps. God forbid injuries hit Bellamy and Dortch will have to get in there and who knows what they do. Especially in the early weeks with no Herndon. Would rather have kept Burnett or Thompson as a #4. Or Peake who's a good special teamer it is what it is with our CB situation what it is. And I guess they really like Farley as they kept him as a 5th safety
Yea I'm all for one of them now. Was shocked Peake was dropped. And Burnett too thought his old chemistry (and decent performance last year) with Darnold would help him stick. I'd go for Treadwell...but yea one of the 3 I'm onboard
Hope Burgess, Burnett, and Cooper are brought back....Holmes has a guaranteed spot on team (I believe) thru international program...
Holmes has a guaranteed spot on the PS, not the roster, and if he goes to the PS, he cannot be moved up to the roster during the season. It's a special exemption for foreign players that allows teams to keep him on the PS without it counting towards the teams alloted number of players on the PS. Yeah, I'd like to see those three brought back. I was surprised that they were cut.
