Seriously? What did the strength and conditioning coach do to have tru hour this hamstring running back a interception in practice. Leo hurt his hip in practice come on man!
Holy effing shite! This is like when Rex put Sanchez in late in a pre season game and he got the shoulder injury.
Nacho wasn’t an impact player tho. He was a backup QB at that point playing in a preseason game. I had no issue with that. Williamson probably shouldn’t have been out there, but you can’t bubble wrap everyone either.
I'm bummed as hell but don't necessarily agree with this. You can't always remove every single starter He was left to call the defensive plays with all the youngsters left on the field to make the defensive play better. It was a freak accident that will happen in pre season over and over. No team is immune to that. If you don't want to give the starters any exposure then they need to change the pre season rules from top to bottom.
I meant williams as a potential impact player not nacho. He's one of their best tacklers. It's still unknown what role Nacho would have played if he didn't get hurt. Their options weren't great at QB at that time. None of the QB's at that time could be remotely considered impact but the fact there was a chance he could have become the starter at some point yet they through him out in garbage time is the point. The whole point of pre-season is get some reps in for players and get them OUT so they don't get hurt.
and this is why we should have never traded lee for a 6th round pick. I hope cashman or hewitt step up
Oh ok I agree regarding Williamson. That definitely hurts. Sanchez in 2012 was absolute garbage though. If it weren't for the guaranteed money that Tanny inexplicably gave him after trading for Tebow (both of which got him fired), Sanchez wouldn't even have been on the team in '13. He was done here, as were his days starting anywhere. In terms of playing guys in preseason, I don't really see a way around it. Going into a season without having played at all isn't a good idea either imo.. It just sucks if they get hurt.
So long as Darnold stays healthy - please let him stay healthy - then I am OK with anything else I always thought the Lee trade was a dumb move and this just makes it look even more short sighted.
The Jets need to built a solid offensive line to protect Darnold. That should be their highest priority.
Spot on with this, if our season was over because of this then we might as well pack it in now because we weren't doing anything. We still have one of the best ILBs in the league in Mosley. Cashman can be our guy on passing downs and I'd imagine Hewitt is going to be our run stuffer, he's got a mean streak to him.
You have to wonder if this will change their approach for game 3, where starters generally play the longest.
Get it but it’s a damned if you do damned if you don’t. If someone comes out week 1 and gets hurt on a play where it’s out of sync we’d be yelling about preseason and why it’s important The bottom line which sucks is injuries happen in this sport. Next man up and wish Avery a speedy recovery.
I was honestly pretty shocked. His foot was off the ground when 35 hit his knee, I was almost certain this was just a bruise or something. It’s tough to understand mechanistically how he tore the ACL.
If anything, I'd expect the starters to play a little longer now, because someone will have to get up to speed calling the signals in the huddle. Adams? Mosley?
