2 K were drafted this year, both in the 5th round, by the Browns and Bucs. The Browns Greg Joseph played in the final 14 games last year and made 17/20 FG, 25/29 XP and 47/69 touchbacks. The TB incumbent is Cairo Santos who played in 7 games and made 9/12 FG, 17/17 XP and 12/36 touchbacks. I'll go with the assumption that both Joseph and Santos will be cut in favor of the drafted K. I would go with Joseph over Santos, or as I posted yesterday, bring in the UDFA K from LSU Cole Tracy now and if he doesn't work out target Joseph after cuts.
Joe Douglas: Chandler, I need to see you in my office... Chandler Catanzaro: How's it going? I'm LOVING being a Jet! Take Flight baby! You see that sweet kick I made Thursday? Joe Douglas: Yeah, I did, but I also saw some missed extra points. We have given you many chances and honestly I think it is time to.... Chandler Catanzaro: Hold it right there! Before you say anything else, I just want to say that I retire. Joe Douglas: What? You retire? From the NFL? Chandler Catanzaro: Yeah, I am good. I had a nice run. Again, really proud of that sweet kick I made Thursday. Joe Douglas: Oh, okay. Well, thank you for your time here. Enjoy retirement. Chandler Catanzaro: Thanks! It's a great feeling. I also like being able to go out on my own terms, ya know? This just feels like the right time. Gonna be tough to top that sweet kick from Thursday night.
I really like that he can punt in a pinch also. Actually wondering if that is over-affecting my opinion on him lol
Think if we cough up our 6th, they'd give us our 7th back? Getting Vedvik and Lewis for only a 6th would look pretty good, but not sure if the Ravens would accept that.
What about that kid from Florida State a few years ago that broke all those records, and then when Tampa drafted him he caught a case of the yips? Maybe he had cured himself?
College field goal percentage doesn't mean that much, especially since Vedvik was very raw at the time. For that matter, Robbie Gould was a 64% kicker at Penn State. And I hope Douglas is better at picking in the late rounds than our previous GMs because our 5th rounders have been useless for years.
Trading a 5th round pick for a kicker that’s never kicked a football in an NFL game is dumb and I’m glad we didn’t do it
