Sam Darnold refuses to wish Tom Brady a happy birthday By Justin Tasch Sam Darnold is taking the Jets-Patriots rivalry very seriously. So much so, in fact, that Darnold would not participate in a video shoot featuring NFL players wishing Tom Brady, who turned 42 last Saturday, a happy birthday. “I’m going to get every competitive edge I can, because he’s going to do the same thing,” Darnold told Yahoo! Sports. “[Brady is] the ultimate competitor. He’s exactly where I want to be when I’m his age. To chase that, I can’t be giving him anything.” Darnold asked if he had to do the video, put together by Yahoo!, during a July shoot in Los Angeles, and he was told no. The 22-year-old second-year Jets quarterback will show Brady sportsmanship after they play, but nothing more. “If I see him after a game, I’ll tell him good game and all that stuff. But I don’t want to give him anything. Especially to him. No,” Darnold told the website. The story left ESPN radio host and former NFL player Mike Golic incredulous. “What?! What in the hell are we doing here?” Golic said on “Golic and Wingo” Thursday. “You think if you wish Tom Brady a happy birthday that you’re not a competitive guy and don’t want to beat him? It’s the dumbest thing I’ve ever seen in my life. Somebody help me here. Am I wrong on this? Are we really doing this? I’m not wishing him a happy birthday because I want the competitive edge on Tom Brady? Are you kidding me?! Is this the dumbest thing that has taken up space on a paper I’ve ever seen?”
Golic fell flat on his face with that awful take this morning. I bet he didn't wish anyone happy birthday back in his day.
I like it we are not here to make fucking friends with them. Darnold is encapsulating Jets fans with this; he knows we hate them and we want to beat them more then anything. Being a Jet is in your blood Darnold.
Golic? Wingo? As sportcasters in NY talking BS? Tell me it isn't so? What? What in the hell are they doing here? Is this not the damest stupidest thing I have read in the paper, dynasour Golic is sooo out of touch. Sam is the man. Golic needs to give it up.

Why does Sam or anyone else have to kiss Brady ass??? Ok the guy has 6 rings and i do respect what hes done but give me a F-ing break!!! Let his team and coaches get on there knees and kiss his ass!!
