Culturally, the guys we’ve brought into the organization but on the coaching staff and in the front office all started with him. Some guys were talking about him getting fired after year 1 a week into him getting hired.
Coaches should get credit for wins, not culture changes. If they come out of the gate and start losing games, all this feelgood culture stuff will go right down the toilet
turn·a·round /ˈtərnəˌround/ noun noun: turnaround; plural noun: turnarounds; noun: turnround; plural noun: turnrounds; noun: turn-around; plural noun: turn-arounds; noun: turn-round; plural noun: turn-rounds 1. an abrupt or unexpected change, especially one that results in a more favorable situation. "it was a remarkable turnaround in his fortunes" 2. the process of completing or the time needed to complete a task, especially one involving receiving something, processing it, and sending it out again. "a seven-day turnaround" Where is the turnaround? Where are the results? What has changed? What is more favorable now than before? According to the definition it appears a turnaround should be measurable; what are you seeing that you think is a turnaround?
Depends on your definition of "more favorable". You claim the turnaround should be "measurable" and it can be. By the numbers, we are more talented at the running back position. We are better at the linebacker position. We are better at the offensive line position. We are better at the receiver position. And statistically, we have a better defensive coordinator. I would say those are all measurables that signal what he referred to as a "turnaround".
How can you say this and at the same not realize he was getting crapped on before his first press conference then he got crap for rumors about Bell then for getting Macc fired. At the end of the day there’s new life in this organization and it’s partly because of him.
The thing about turnarounds is it's difficult to pinpoint when it started. Parcells first year coaching the Giants they went 3 12 and 1. Coughlin went 6 and 10. When Vermeil took over the Rams they went 5 and 11 and 4 and 12 before they won the SB. Bill Walsh first two years in SF 2 and 12 and 6 and 10. I believe since Gase was hired the Jets have made a monumental shift. How long it takes this big crappy ship to actually turn around will be determined. At least someone is at the wheel and decided to steer it off the iceberg.
Cowherd is an idiot that just so happens to love Darnold but I’d be lying if I said this video didn’t fire me up
Wow! That amazes me and excites me at the same time. He's pretty much been a Patriot shill and has hated the Jets. For him to say what he did about the Jets being a solid football team and having great leadership at the top gives me even more hope.
Granted, no games have been played yet. Look at the positiveness here on theganggreen.com. That says something. Listen to the Colin Cowherd comments above and tell me if you think he would have said those things, even with the additions Mac made to the roster, if Mac and Bowles were still here. Cowherd called Mac an incompetent GM. He obviously has great respect for Douglas because he called him a "legitimate GM." They added Kalil. Do you not think that will make a difference to offense? Kalil signed here because of Sam. When has a very good veteran player who is a FA ever wanted to sign with the Jets, especially because of their QB? TC reports have talked about the crispness, the excitement, the energy, the chess matches between Gase and Williams. When have we had those things? As Biggs said, the turnaround has begun.
I believe there is a more focused, disciplined culture around the building for sure. Gase deserves credit for that. But byz is still right, if they don't win on Sundays it don't mean shit
That positiveness will turn into a bunch of whiny new threads if we're down at halftime against Buffalo.
yeah it will. Buffalo's offensive line is in shambles right now. so glad we have them week 1. its the perfect opponent to start the year with
Cowherd's new thing is being Pro-Sam, Anti-Baker. So of course he will talk that way about the Jets. He just so happens to be right on this subject though. I know I am considered a "sun-shiner" but I really think (8-8) should be the floor for the Jets. (8-8) with some bad luck, (11-5) with some good luck. Of course, that is if they stay healthy.
Not buying it. "more talented" is not measurable. Everything you mention is your opinion; it is all subjective and based on past production. This is the NFL; there is only one measurable that counts - wins. There will be no turnaround until the Jets record improves and there's plenty of room for that.
No argument with anything you said in your first paragraph. I also have no particular regard for the opinion of any talking head and to mistake any such opinion for a turnaround is not productive and clouds the issue. Biggs is premature.
