First it was Qvale with a knee injury...Gase announced that Qvale’s injury is not season-ending and will not require surgery, though he will be out for “a while.” Then.. The Jets are holding their breath after WR Jamison Crowder walked off the practice field on Monday with an apparent left foot/ankle injury. As SNY's Ralph Vacchiano witnessed, Crowder took a deep pass from Sam Darnold for a touchdown, but he wasn't celebrating. He began walking gingerly on his foot, and after trying to run on it, he was instead taken to the locker room with trainers to examine the injury.
In before someone says "Well, he walked off so it can't be serious," even though 98% of knee tears walk off under their own power.
Well this is the case for every team with a franchise QB. Everyone’s fucked if their QB goes down. No use worrying too much about it.
Injuries are part of the game. The only certainty we have right now is a backup o lineman will miss some time and a safety may not be ready for Week1. So far, that's normal.
That’s right hack was always suited up to go into a game and never hurt should of kept him. We never had to worry about hack getting hurt. Best play ability is availability
Deontay Burnett looks like the next man up. Early on, in reps with the second team, Burnett made a circus grab on a fade in the end zone. He popped up another time or two with catches as well. As a result, the Jets tossed him into Crowder’s spot at the end of practice.
I am really hopeful for him. He's Sam's favorite target at USC and wasn't bad last year for a UDFA. Thats what good teams to aside from drafting well is finding these guys. Maybe it rubs off on Edoga as well since he protected Sam in college.
Deontay is a sleeper in my book that will surprise some folks. He has an uncanny ability to open safety valves for Sam when in trouble, and get positive yardage with some really money catches. We saw a small glimpse of that even though he didn't get much prime time last year. I have high hopes for This kid.
this is pretty normal this time a year. mostly small nagging stuff. and qvale is useless anyway. My only concern right now is maye who may not be ready for the season from his season ending surgery last year. FWIW of the giants top 3 WRs, 1 broke a finger and may not be ready for the season start, another tore his ACL and is done for the year, and the 3rd is suspended 4 games for PEDs. they are looking at starting the season with their 4th, 5th, and 6th WRs as starters. that's pretty brutal. lets be happy we aren't that bad off
I can’t believe Qvale was still on the roster to begin with. Surely an upgrade could’ve been found somewhere
