I'd really prefer to see the HC talking about playing meaningful games in September and October; the old "walk before you run" or "one game at a time" kind of thing.
Don't think that is a bold statement whatsoever. I'm EXPECTING them to be playing meaningful games come the first week of December. If that isn't the case then something went wrong.
I see nothing wrong with what Gase said. It can mean many things it all depends on what you can or choose to imagine. He's being optimistic while at the same time being careful not to overburden the team with unnecesary high expectations. It sure beats hearing um duh you take out one of ours we'll take out two of yours, um duh I'm not here to kiss Belichick's rings, um duh Superbowl baby!!! Then a few years later he's taking victory laps around Metlife after a 8-8 season and oh yeah the Pats still own the division & league.
Au contraire, mes amis. We haven't fallen anywhere. We now have a sensible, realistic coach instead of a wild-eyed lunatic.
Good for Gase. It's a reasonable and much needed expectation. Nothing bold whatsoever except for the people here that perceive it as such. Playing meaningful games in that time frame simply confirms the expectation that we did not implode during the early part of the season and mailed in the rest of it hoping to get a high draft pick type of shit. Something we have become quite used to during our prior management. No comparison to the Rex era either, where the predictions were non-sensical and highly delusional. The idiocy of proclamation of not kissing BB SB rings is mercifully behind us.
Gase was heavily criticized in Miami for underutilizing Kenyan Drake and Mike Gesicki when they played well in limited time. They’re already falling out of favor with the new staff which suggests there may be factors in practice/meetings that support Gase’s decisions.
