Gase is getting along well with Chris J as opposed to Ross He has outcoached Belichek twice and of course Shoddy Toddy a few times What more do you need to know guys? Bonus >>we hired a GM who directed an Eagles SB We need to stop looking for problems imo...life is good
Well he surely did not learn when it came to the TE position when he does not have a backup pass catching TE now did he?
life is good? How about we wait for Gase to actually achieve something before we start singing his praises? Don't get me wrong, I like the hire. But this jerkoff had done NOTHING with the Jets thus far.
Hey! Did you hear the one about the guy that was jerking off while texting?... Oh. You did? Never mind.
disagree. he had a very under-talented team and a bad QB and still did better then other teams with more talent. As an OC in denver peyton manning and aging and degrading peyton manning had career years and won a SB with him as an OC and vouched for gase as well.
You can give me all the reasons you want, but Gase doing a good job in Miami is still your subjective opinion.
not sure how it's subjective if it's clear their QB sucked, they lacked talent and he still won more games and beat the pats nonetheless which is no small feat, then teams that were more talented. Also a glowing recommendation from arguably the greatest QB all time is hard to shake your head at
Alternative take: "The Dolphins had one of the worst point differentials in the league while Gase was coach. During Bowles's four years, the Jets were outscored by about 4 points per game. During Gase's three years, the Dolphins were outscored by about 5 points per game. So if Gase didn't get lucky, he would've had a record just as bad if not worse than Bowles. Point differential revealing the truth about a team isn't unprecedented, in 2013 the Jets went 8-8 but were outscored by about 6 points per game. The next year they kept largely the same roster and went 4-12. Therefore, I believe that despite the Dolphins' record (which was still mediocre), Gase did a terrible job there." Anyway, my point isn't actually that Gase is terrible. Maybe the real problem was the Dolphins' talent, and winning close games isn't just luck but also good coaching. Who knows? My point is that despite cherry-picking facts that support your opinion that he did a good job, your opinion is still subjective.
What Gase did in Miami is meaningless...just like Belichick's stint in Cleveland. Gase now has a GM on the same page, a sympathetic owner, a young talented QB with upside, and a couple of talented players on offense. The defense looks to pretty stout as well. If Gase doesn't succeed with the Jets...he'll have no excuses.
point differential (especially 1 point average lol) doesn't mean a lot. sometimes you QB has a bad game and throws 5 picks and you get blownout by 30 but then you win the next 4 by 3 points your differential is -18 points but you are 4-1. sometimes your QB has a bad game or somehting happens where you get blownout and the team gives up in the 2nd half and it gets worse. one of bowles biggest issue was not winning close games because he ws too conservative. gase is better at winning the close games. i'll concede it's subjective though as there is no real way to measure a coaches effectiveness anyway LMAO
My point wasn't about point differential, but I'll go along with it. I know a 1 point average doesn't mean a lot. But that isn't the difference between Gase and a decent showing, it's the difference between Gase and the shitshow that was Bowles. So you're arguing my point for me there. Also, the problem with winning the next 4 games by 3 points is that isn't sustainable. You're going to go around .500 in the long run in games that close. So you get to 4-1 in that sample, but in the long run you're looking at an average of 2-3 if that's your typical 5 game stretch. And I'm not sure if Gase is better at winning the close games. He may be better, or he may have been luckier. Regardless, we'll know the answer in a couple years.
true but you can't turn shit to gold. his 2 years as OC with the broncos he was +187 and put up a combined 837 points or 26PPG. the jets in that span put up 670 or 21PPG. having a QB like tannehil and all his backups hurt him a lot. he's an offensive guy so i'm more willing to judge total point over differential. i do understand your point and skepticism but at the end of the day he's our coach so might as well be positive until he proves he doesn't deserve it
