This is a 'Kaiju' post. . .Nope : ) Darnold NOT Throwing @ the Combine :/ Remember this gem of a post & thread: Darnold not wanting to throw at the combine because his wonky "linebacker with an arm" throwing motion would be exposed.....as if a starting QB from no less a program than Southern Cal wouldn't have already been scrutinized to a T. . One poster (@NCJetsfan) in this thread in particular even took it a step further by hilariously suggesting in another thread that Sam Darnold was a pussy--a pussy!---for choosing to not throw at the combine.....only to have Darnold light it up in the rain on his pro day (this after refusing an offer to wait until the rain stopped). But for those of us who e.g had a Pac-12 package (so as to check out the conference's many QB prospects in 2017: Darnold, Rosen, Falk, Browning, Tyler Huntley), the proof was already in the pudding regarding Darnold's potential at the next level. Fun reading vvv : Darnold NOT Throwing @ the Combine :/ (probs to @RubanDias being the exception).
It’s so encouraging because all last offseason he pointed it out as something that he’d been focusing on. The fact that he can isolate a weakness and completely remove it in one offseason, (as a rookie while learning the NFL game) is ridiculous. It looks like getting his feet aligned with his throws is his focus for this offseason. (https://www.newyorkjets.com/news/jets-qb-sam-darnold-is-making-a-change-in-the-foundation). If he can fix that as well and as quickly as he fixed the fumbles he is going to have a great year. I know these are very long, but this guy does a great job of breaking down Sam’s rookie year and one of the recurring themes is inaccuracy caused by stepping in the bucket. He has tons of other videos on the Jets too including the new acquisitions; he puts in a lot of work and deserves way more views.
Remember it well. It's our usual band of know it alls lecturing us about red flags, a week arm (what?), And my favorite, slow delivery (another what?) that will result in TOs. All by a particular braindead, know it all who likes to tell others that they don't know a damn thing about the game. Almost all of these were by Mayfield fanboys who just felt the need to trash all the other prospects. Lol, too funny then, funnier today
I hope he is focusing on recognizing linebackers in zone coverage. There were some brutal picks because of that last year
There were some ones that were so ugly that I can’t imagine they were anything other than a rookie not expecting certain defenders to actually be playing coverage. The Alonso one in the first Miami sticks out. If he’s throwing balls like that in year 2 it’ll be a bad sign.
Yeah, he had some bad ones, but he actually handled most of his rookie season pretty well. Remember Stafford Week 1 against the Jets D? That was brutal. And it was what? Year 9 or 10 for him? Sam should be okay, but yeah that Alonso one does stand out. He actually played pretty bad against Gase's Dolphins in both games. Ironic.
Thanks for the recommendation. I spend too much time online as it is, so have resisted joining Twitter or Instagram.
Yes. He’s a co-host for the podcast but didn’t participate in the Darnold episodes (think he was abroad or something).
Oh, no, I'm all for it. Especially the arrogant ones who after responding with something that is incredibly stupid, which just proves that they have no clue about the game call you out and your football acumen.
