One of the Jets greatest victories in the playoffs.

And the game before that one. Darrol Ray intercepting Kenny Andersen and returning it 99 yards to cap out a blowout!!

I had just moved from NYC to LA weeks before...but I watched it on tv surrounded by a bunch of Raider fans.

McNeil and Walker won that game.

    Was #47 Jerry Holmes?

they don't show my boy going over the pile for the game winner. What kind of highlight is that?

Richard Todd's greatest moment was in the Oakland playoff game.

3rd and 1 at midfield, Todd throws a bomb to Walker, takes it down to the one..the Jets haven't made such a dramatic, unexpected play-call since LOL
Dierking scores, then Lance Mehl intercepts twice to seal the game

That was the game. I was deathly afraid of the Bengals game, thought like everyone else that could be a blowout win for the Bengals.

I never thought or worried that they would lose to the Raiders.

#47 Jerry Holmes was one skinny DB...6'2" 175lbs.

    That's Robbie Anderson skinny.

He had an interesting career...rookie free agent pick up by the Jets.
Played 6 seasons as a NYJ...interrupted by a stint in the USFL.

I had to goggle that...I barely remembered him.

    Fuck... I'm getting old.

Half of me was an egg inside my mom at the time, and the other half was a sperm cell my dad had not yet made. So I also did not get to view it live.

This was a classic .....and at the same time very depressing in hindsight knowing what happened 8 days later . I remember Michaels walking off the field hugging Gastineau with the biggest shit eating grin I ever saw him with......it turned out that was his last NFL victory.

The Jets were a good team on paper for another 4 years with this same core in place - minus Todd and Michaels . But it never seemed the same .....

Skinny skinny legs - only Jonathan Carter - a KR around the 2003 season had skinnier legs for the Jets lol.

Holmes was very under rated - and a good find. Slightly better than Jackson on the other side IMO.

Lyle Roidzado going full rage against Chris Ward......Lou Michaels getting a call at halftime from a guy who got through claiming to be Leon Hess but turning out to be an irate NYC bartender which had Michaels convinced that Al Davis was playing head games (Al Davis previously fired Walt Michaels from his staff and was himself paranoid that the Jets bugged the Raider's lockerroom at Shea)......Lance Mehl sealing the deal.......only to be followed by Tarpgate at the OB.

One of 2 Jets playoff games I have been to, the other was against Jags in 99 (98 season).
Was really pissed when Plunkett hit the big TD pass to put us down in the third, really did not think at that point we would come back.
Freeman and Wesley are to this day still 2 of my all time favorite Jets and a lot is due to that game.

It was so Jet like for us to be running the clock out only to have McNeil fumble...

Credit the D they totally shut down Marcus Allen on the ground

I always loved the Jets but it was during that playoff season I came to have a passion for it. After the Raiders game I really thought they were going to the SB. However, that's when I began to know full well how they would break your heart.

And Don Schula screwed us over. Glad they lost to the Skins in the Super Bowl.
