Before my life time: SuperBowl 3 Seen live: Jets beating Dolphins at Wembley. (I have watched Jets at Meadowlands 2 times and they have managed to lose both times) On the TV: To get away from the obvious ones can i throw in Detroit last year as a pretty brilliant win, yes i know it didn't lead anywhere but for that week the hope that we had Darnold and this could be a new beginning was great. Other than that then yeah Jets beating Bengals, Colts and Jags in home playoff games was great, just to see Jets fans enjoy a HOME playoff win. Obviously beating Patriots was amazing in the playoffs but beating them with Fitzmagic at home to set up Buffalo win and in game was great too....I will just not mention Buffalo. If i had to pick 1 then San Diego in 2009 was special. Remember staying up late and getting very excited.
I won't repeat the playoff choices made by others already, but the ones for me that hold a lasting impression are: 1) 1981: Shellacking of the Buffalo Bill's at Shea stadium. My only live regular season Jet game at home. Had 50 yard line seats in the 4th row and the fans and players were going wild in the 4th quarter. 2) 1986: Shootout with Miami where Walker catches his 2 TD's (one to tie and one to win). One of the classics vs. Marino. Remember when Miami was the team to hate? 3) 1991: Last game of the regular season against the Dolphins (mentioned already by Kurt). Jets win to get into the playoffs. Marino scores a late TD, but the Jets come back with a last second field goal to get it into OT. My remberence was that Marrino called a TO too early (ie. with plenty of seconds left on the play clock) just before before their TD, allowing the Jets enough time to get into position for the game tying FG. 4) 1998: Vinny's helmet TD vs. the Seahawks. Kept the winning streak alive. Remember running around the bar high fiving everyone. Instant replay started the next year - coincidence? 5) 2000: Monday Night Miracle in the Meadowlands. Great comeback game that secured my daughter's lifelong Jet fandom - sorry Nicole .
Yes I was there live & in person for this one at well. I did not mention it cause it was exhibition game
Just a note here that ANYBODY who does not mention either SB3 or the 68 AFL championship is just a youngie for further reference
Last year the win in Detroit was pretty good. Of course, everything after that was a grim reminder of life as a Jets fan.
In case U R unaware of it I have been a NYJ STH since 1965. I would appreciate if U can kept that info on file when U communicate with me Tks
The morning after that game I went into work, walked up to my Giant fan friend, and said one word: "Toooooooooooooooooooooon." Note by the way the awful clock management by Parcells. He wasted 18 seconds before calling the first time out, and lost 43 seconds by not calling a time out on the next play. Think an extra minute when there were only 37 seconds left in the game might have been helpful to try to mount a comeback?
