Cardinals did a good job of adding to the offense for Murray.

They’re trying to protect him and add weapons.

Cardinals claim former Browns LT Desmond Harrison off waivers

After being waived by the Cleveland Browns yesterday for being late to minicamp, offensive tackle Desmond Harrison cannot officially join another team until he clears waivers but it is clear he is headed to the desert as the Arizona Cardinals have put in a waiver claim for him according to Ian Rapoport of NFL.com.

During the offseason the waiver order is the same as the draft order, meaning the Cardinals have the top waiver priority. That means that, if the Cardinals want him, the Cardinals are guaranteed to get him and in fact Rapoport reports that Harrison has already gone to the airport to fly to Arizona and is ready to get to work immediately.

The 25-year-old Harrison joined the Browns as an undrafted free agent in 2018 and then-head coach Hue Jackson made the inexplicable decision to install him as the starting left tackle. As soon as Jackson was fired at midseason, Harrison was benched and did not play another down the rest of the season.

Harrison definitely has some physical talent but has neverreally put it all together in stops from Contra Costa College to Texas to West Georgia before joining the Browns last year. Clearly the current coaching regime of the Browns were not impressed but it makes sense for the Cardinals to at least give him a long look in training camp. There are not many available 25-year-old left tackles with starting experience at the pro level floating around this time of year.

So does this explain why they had to name Gase as acting GM yet?

My Dad's from Cleveland and an avid Browns fan, I asked him about Harrison upon his release. His response: "The scoop on DH was promising athletic ability, poor work ethic, wasn't picking up the nuances of the position. Also lived on his own time; late for meeting, the bus, the plane, etc. Some off-the-field shenanigans too. Showing up a day late for mini-camp was the last straw."

Doesn't sound like we missed out on much.
